Overall Opinion:
Overall, I gave Xen-Tan Transformation Ultra 2.5 out of 5 stars.
I found it to be a pretty average self tanner. There were some things I really liked about it, but the bad things kind of balanced them out.
For the good, this one smells so delicious! It’s also easy to apply, and you don’t sleep with it on, so no need to worry about staining sheets or clothing.
The things I didn’t like were the drying time (so sticky!), the color produced (too orange for me), and the way it faded on my skin.
So I found Xen-Tan Transformation Ultra to be about average.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Xen-Tan Transformation Ultra looks exactly like caramel. It’s a thick gel that has a caramel color to it.
The guide doesn’t show up on your skin however, it goes on clear.
Application
Application of this one is very easy, and pretty mess free.
You can’t really see where you’re applying the product because the guide doesn’t show up on your skin.
So just apply it like you would any body moisturizer.
You wash this one off after a few hours, so it’s nice you don’t have to worry about any staining of sheets or clothing.
Drying Time
This self tanner felt very wet on my skin once applied. I literally felt like I just got out of the pool or shower.
So in total, it took about 30-35 minutes to dry, and after that I could still feel the stickiness on my skin the full time I had it on.
Smell (Before Application)
Xen-Tan Transformation Ultra smells so good.
I has a very fruity, cucumber melon scent that I love. The scent is a bit strong, but I really enjoyed it.
It did a great job of covering up any DHA smell.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
Since this is a rapid tanner, you only need to leave it on a few hours. The whole time I had it on, my skin smelled good. Even after I washed it off I smelled good, and couldn’t smell any DHA.
Color Produced
This is a rapid tanner. So the instructions say to rinse off after 45 minutes for a light to medium tan, and for a deep tan leave on for 2-3 hours. But don’t be fooled, you need to wait about 10 hours to see the color develop.
I left it on somewhere between the two, I rinsed it of after about an hour and a half.
Immediately after I washed it off, I had no color. But my skin felt extremely smooth and soft.
By the next morning, my tan had developed and I had a pretty dark tan, but unfortunately it was a bit orangey.
I also had a lot of streaks. I’m not sure how those happened as I thought I evenly applied it.
I think for those of you with very fair skin, the color will be too dark even if you only leave on 45 minutes. I think this self tanner is better suited for darker skin tones.
I wasn’t thrilled with the color, even though it was pretty dark.
How Long It Lasts
Xen-Tan Transformation Ultra lasted 4-5 days before it had noticeably faded.
It also didn’t fade evenly at all, my skin looked a little diseased.
OK For Men?
If you have a more olive skin tone, you may like this one because it’s fast and it smells good.
But if you’re fair skinned, I don’t think you’ll like it.
Price
At $65.00 per bottle, Xen-Tan Transformation Ultra is a very expensive self tanner.
The good news is the bottle is huge, so it’ll last a while.
