Overall Opinion:
I ended up giving Sugar Baby Dark Bronze Self Tan Cream 3.25 out of 5 stars.
It was definitely better than average, but I really didn’t like the smell and my tan got weird in a few areas.
But overall the medium shade color is very nice; I just had a few areas where the tan looked extra dark and weird.
The drying time and price point are both average.
The one major downside is it doesn’t smell good.
So, I found this self tanner to be better than average so I gave it a 3.25 out of 5 stars.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
This is a very dark lotion, it’s almost black in color.
The lotion is thick, and very slick feeling.
Application
You must use a tanning mitt with this one because the guide is so dark.
The dark guide helps you see where you’re applying this cream. I found it pretty easy to apply.
It blends in nicely, and kind of just glides over your skin.
As long as you’re careful with one, it shouldn’t cause too much of a mess because the product itself isn’t runny at all.
But if you do get it on tiles or the ground it could stain.
Drying Time
It dried in 20 minutes. For the first few minutes while it dried, it was sticky, but that didn’t last long.
After 20 minutes I put my baggy clothes back on and didn’t have any problems.
But make sure you’re completely dry before doing so due to the black guide.
Smell (Before Application)
Sugar Baby Dark Bronze Self Tan Cream has a pretty light smell.
But I wouldn’t say it smells good. I could definitely smell DHA, and a hint of fragrance as well. But the DHA definitely was the overpowering scent.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
The DHA smell became stronger as the product developed.
I didn’t smell very good when I woke up the next morning. Thankfully, the smell went away completely once I showered.
Color Produced
After I showered the guide off, I was very pleased with my tan.
I had a medium to dark shade tan that was sunkissed and brown looking.
I had a few areas that turned out funky around my elbows and knees, but overall, the tan was pretty natural looking.
The tan this one produces isn’t THE darkest out there, it’s pretty middle of the road as far as color payoff goes. But I would definitely wear it again because I enjoyed how natural and bronze I looked.
How Long It Lasts
After 5 days my tan was gone. I was pretty impressed it lasted 5 days, I was happy with it.
It got a little scaley as it faded, but that’s to be expected when you get noticeable color.
OK For Men?
Yes, the color is very nice and natural. But keep in mind it does have a super dark guide, which I know some men don’t care for.
Price
Sugar Baby Dark Bronze Self Tan Cream is $3.21 per ounce, which is less than your average self tanner.
For this one, I think it’s a very fair price tag.
