Overall Opinion:
I gave St. Tropez In Shower Gradual Tan Medium 2 out of 5 stars.
I previously reviewed this same product in the light color, and honestly the two are VERY similar.
They both have the same gross, heavy smell. And the medium is barely any darker than the light. You’ll still need to apply it daily to see any color. And the color is very light.
The application process is freezing while you stand in the shower, but the thing I did like is there’s no drying time with this product.
So overall, I gave it 2 out of 5 stars.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
This lotion is very slick and slimy. It comes out a caramel color, so it’s a very light brown. It’s thick in texture.
Application
The directions on this one say to wet your skin and then apply this lotion all over. The lotions never really blends in; it kind of just sits on top of your skin, and you can see it sitting there.
You’re directed to turn off the shower before you apply it. So you stand there in a freezing cold shower for 3 minutes while you have the product on your skin.
You’re also directed to wash your hands once you apply the product. Ummm, how can I wash my hands if the water is turned off? It’s really dumb. So I lightly turned back on the water to rinse my hands, and of course I got a little water splashed on my lower legs as well.
After 3 minutes, you wash the product off your skin. The product is very slick, and sticks to your ground when you wash it off. Be VERY careful as this makes your shower floor extremely slippery (I learned the hard way).
I thought applying a product in the shower would be easier and less messy than your normal self tanner, but I was wrong. I didn’t enjoy standing their freezing in the middle of my hot, relaxing shower. The one good thing is my skin felt soft after I washed the product off.
It’s also pretty hard to apply the tanner to your back in the shower.
Drying Time
There’s no drying time with St. Tropez In Shower Gradual Tan Medium, which is great.
Once you shower it off, get out and dry off, you’re good to go!
Smell (Before Application)
Ugh, this one smells awful.
It’s a very heavy, perfume smell. It smells strongly of floral, and it reminded me of a perfume older ladies would enjoy.
I like fresh, light smells when I shower, and this one was the opposite of that.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
The smell stayed on my skin for hours after I showered.
My husband commented on how awful I smelled. It was such a heavy scent, it lasted a while. It didn’t smell like DHA, just very strong of perfume.
Color Produced
This is a gradual tanner that is supposed to give you a medium shade tan over 3 days of use.
I found that St. Tropez In Shower Gradual Tan Medium gave me a very light glow after one use. After two more uses my tan got a tiny bit darker, but it was never a medium shade tan.
I think this one is such a hassle to use, especially for the color pay off.
I actually read quite a few other reviews that said the same thing they got practically no color. This one may be ok for those of you with extremely fair skin. But just keep note that it doesn’t give a very noticeable tan.
I also found a few areas where I had either missed or the product ran, because there were still white.
How Long It Lasts
My tan lasted around 3 days, but it’ll last longer if you apply on a daily basis.
As it faded, it became scaley and I had some dry skin.
OK For Men?
This is a lot of work, so I’m not sure men will like it.
It also smells very girly and gross.
Price
St. Tropez In Shower Gradual Tan Medium is $25 per bottle and $3.73 per ounce. That a pretty average price tag, maybe even lower than average.
