Overall Opinion:

We weren’t as impressed with the Vita Liberata Tinted Self Tan Mousse as we were with some of their self tanners.

Our biggest issues with this mousse are the guide color and messy application.

The day after application the drier parts of my body were badly stained by the guide– even after a shower.   And it was VERY difficult to get these areas evened out.

Another thing we didn’t like was how short-lived this tanner is, especially since it’s so expensive.

Overall, we rated this a disappointing 2.75 out of 5.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

Vita Liberata Tinted Self Tan Mousse pumps out of a 3.38 oz bottle a dark brown, almost coffee color.

It’s a mousse, so it kind of looks like foam.

It feels light and airy (as most mousses do).

Application

The application of this self tanning mousse was extremely difficult.

I had to use a lot of product to the coverage to a point where I felt comfortable.

The guide is very dark and shows as many different shades on your skin– which made me feel like I had put more on in some spots, and less in others.

It also got all over my sink, towels and clothes.  The bathroom looked like a dirty mess after I was done applying it!  And it took longer than what it takes for lotions and gels.

Also make sure you use a tanning mitt or gloves with this one, it stains the hands really badly!

Drying Time

Vita Liberata Tinted Self Tan Mousse dried pretty quickly once I was done applying it.

I’d say within 15 minutes I felt like it was completely dry- which is great.

Another plus, it didn’t feel sticky once it dried.

Be careful about what you come in contact with as you’re applying it and as it dries.  This one can really stain!

Smell (Before Application)

Like most Vita Liberata products this one doesn’t smell too bad.

It definitely has a light, sweet almost caramel odor to it.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

The after smell on this one is virtually non-existent, especially after you shower the next morning.

This is one of the things we like most about Vita Liberata Tinted Self Tan Mousse.

Color Produced

The color produced by this product was pretty good.

We tried it out in the “medium” shade and that’s exactly what it gave us!

Overall, it was a nice, medium bronze that was very smooth and natural-looking.

How Long It Lasts

This is another area where Vita Liberata Tinted Self Tan Mousse fell a little flat.

After about two days, it started to fade pretty badly and I noticed a lot of splotchiness and streaks.

Mousses don’t usually last as long as other forms of self tanner and unfortunately, this one was no exception.

OK For Men?

I don’t think men will like this one at all.

It’s very messy to apply and will be problematic for those with dry skin (which most men tend to have).

Men should probably look elsewhere.

Price

We bought Vita Liberata Tinted Self Tan Mousse at Sephora for $37.50.

It comes in a 3.38 oz bottle, so that works out to a ridiculous $11.09 per ounce.
