Overall Opinion:
Overall, St. Tropez Gradual Tan Everyday Body produced nice color for a gradual self tanner.
The color was definitely my favorite thing about this self tanner.
What I didn’t like is how long it took to dry and the smell. The smell was way too strong, and the drying time was around 40 minutes :(
Application is a breeze and not messy at all, which is always a plus!
It only took me 2 applications to have a nice medium shade tan. However, I was a little splotchy in some areas.
If you’re looking for a gradual tan that’ll get you darker than most than this is definitely the one for you. It’s also less work than most gradual tanners.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
St. Tropez Gradual Tan Everyday Body is a thick, white lotion.
It’s thick, but has a nice consistency, it’s very smooth and easy to apply.
Application
This self tanner is very easy and straight forward.
It goes on like your daily moisturizer would, and I liked it because it’s not messy at all.
Since this is a gradual tanner, I didn’t use a tanning mitt to apply, but I wish I would’ve.
In between my fingers ended being orange because I didn’t use a mitt.
There’s no guide in this product so you don’t need to worry about it getting all over your bathroom.
Drying Time
This one took longer than I’d like to dry (I think because it’s so thick).
It took about 40 minutes to dry completely, which I didn’t like.
I don’t know about you, but to me any product that takes longer than 30 minutes to dry becomes a pain!
Smell (Before Application)
The smell is an extremely strong perfume smell.
At first I liked it, but then it became overwhelming and I just wanted it to go away.
I think they doubled up on the perfume smell to hide the DHA/chemical smell.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
The next morning I woke up and still smelled like St. Tropez Gradual Tan Everyday Body.
So on the plus side, it didn’t smell like DHA. But on the down side, the smell is overwhelming and too strong for my liking.
Color Produced
This is one of the darkest gradual self tanners I’ve seen.
I really liked the color I got with St. Tropez Gradual Tan.
I used the Medium/Dark shade, but they have a lighter one as well.
After one night of applying it, I saw some color developing, and after two nights I had a nice medium shade tan.
The one thing I didn’t like about the color was it was streaky in a few areas.
I’ve never had a gradual tan turn really streaky because the DHA concentration is usually so light. But it happened this time.
The color was pretty natural, maybe the slightest bit orange.
So, this one is pretty dark for a gradual self tanner, and overall I was pleased with the color.
How Long It Lasts
I’d say this one lasted about 3-4 days.
Like I said, you probably won’t have to apply this one as much as most gradual tanners because the color is darker.
It did get splotchy/streaky on around day 3.
OK For Men?
Men, if you’re looking for a gradual tanner I think you may like this one.
You’ll just have to get past the perfume smell and long drying time…but the outcome is worth it in my opinion.
Price
I purchase this one at Sephora for $30.00.
It comes in a 6.7 Oz bottle, so that breaks down to $4.48 an ounce which is pretty average!
