Overall Opinion:
We had high hopes for this product, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to them.
First of all, this product is SO expensive! It’s $52.00 per bottle, that’s outrageous.
The first thing I noticed about this product is how awful it smells. It smells strongly of floral perfume, it’s not a pleasant smell at all.
The color was nice, but it only lasted a day. So you’ll have to apply this product every day or so to maintain your color, and that will become very pricey.
There are many other self tanners out there that product better color and are half the price of this one.
We had hoped to like this one more, but unfortunately it’s not worth the money!
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Guerlain Terracotta Sunless Tinted Self Tanning Gel comes out as a brown gel.
The gel is very slick and lightweight, and goes on to your skin nicely.
Application
This self tanner is pretty easy to apply, but you’ll want to use gloves.
The product goes on your skin an orangey, clay color, so it could stain your palms if you aren’t careful.
The gel blended into my skin very easily.
The gel is slick, but not watery, which I liked.
Just be careful not to get the guide on anything as it could stain.
Drying Time
This one dried pretty quickly, I was dry in under 20 minutes.
It felt pretty wet after I applied it, but thankfully that wetness went away within 20 minutes.
Make sure not to put any clothes on while you’re waiting for it to dry or the brown guide will stain them!
Smell (Before Application)
I really didn’t like the smell of Guerlain Terracota Sunless Tinted Self Tanning Gel.
It smells very strongly of floral, the best way I can describe it is it smells like “old lady perfume”.
The smell is very strong and overwhelming too, so I was embarrassed to be around anyone until I washed the product off.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
I could still smell the awful floral smell the next morning when I woke up, thankfully it wasn’t as strong.
The smell didn’t completely go away until I showered it off.
Color Produced
After I showered the product off, I was actually happy with how the color looked.
It was a nice, medium glow.
The color looked pretty natural, with no streaks or orange tint.
It wasn’t as dark as I like my tan to be, but I was about 2-3 shades darker and liked the look of my tan :)
How Long It Lasts
Unfortunately, my nice tan didn’t last long at all
By day two, the color had drastically faded into a “light” shade tan.
This one isn’t a gradual tanner, but I think you’d have to apply it almost daily to maintain your color.
As it faded it became a little splotchy as well.
OK For Men?
No, I think the smell alone is enough to keep men away from this one.
I know most men (or women) won’t like the strong floral smell of Guerlain Terracotta Sunless Tinted Self Tanning Gel.
The color is decent, but it only lasts for one day.
This product is also pretty expensive, $52.00 per bottle!
Price
Guerlain Terracota Sunless Tinted Self Tanning Gel sells for $52.00 a bottle at Sephora.
It comes in a 5.1 oz bottle, so that works out to $10.19 an oz! That’s crazy expensive.
