Overall Opinion:

I was very under impressed with Vita Liberata Skin Respect. I ended up giving it 1.5 out of 5 stars.

I was actually really excited to try this because Vita Liberata makes some good products that I like. Well, they should stick with those ones because this one really fell flat.

It claims to help with anti-aging, and with such a hefty price tag I expected it to be a high quality product.

First off, the guide is so dark and the product dries way too fast when you’re applying it. So fast in fact that I didn’t even have time to blend the guide in. So I was left looking like a brown, stained creature. The weird thing is after I had applied it I still felt sticky for over 30 minutes, so it never completely dried. It just dried enough to have the guide stain me.

The color it produced was decent; I got a light to medium shade tan that looked even and sunkissed.

The thing that sucked is my tan was gone after one day.  It faded extremely fast, and I was back to being pasty white after only one day.

The price of Vita Liberata Skin Respect is astounding. One little 3.38 ounce bottle sells for $60.00. Talk about expensive! This product definitely isn’t worth that much.

There are cheaper products that Vita Liberata makes that I’d much prefer to this one.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

Vita Liberata Skin Respect Lotion comes out as a very dark lotion. The lotion feels a little gel-like, and is pretty light in texture.

The guide is sooo dark, almost black.

Application

Application was really messy and annoying.

This is another one of those products where as soon as the guide touches your skin, it stains you.

So it was really hard to blend the product in.

The product also seemed to dry too fast, so I didn’t even have time to blend it into my skin.

So I ended up looking like a splotchy, streaky, brown mess.

I’d definitely recommend wearing a tanning mitt when applying this one because it’s so messy.

Also, make sure the guide doesn’t touch anything, because it will stain it.

Drying Time

This one was weird. It dried too fast. So fast that I didn’t even have time to blend in the guide before it dried.

But after I was done applying, I felt sticky for at least 30 minutes after.

So I don’t feel like it ever completely dried.

Smell (Before Application)

I wasn’t a fan of how Vita Liberata Skin Respect smelled.

It smelled like DHA with a hint of lemon. The smell was so strong it made my head hurt a bit.

Yuck!

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

The next morning the lemon smell was gone, but I could still smell DHA.

I couldn’t wait to shower it off!

Color Produced

After all the hassle of applying this product, I had hoped I’d end up with a gorgeous, dark tan. I didn’t :-(

Immediately after I applied this self tanner, I looked like a brown, uneven mess. I was actually embarrassed with how I looked. My legs had streaks all the way down them, and my tan looked horrible.

Thankfully, most of that unevenness was from the guide and came off when I showered the next morning.

I was left with a light to medium shade tan, and it looked pretty natural.

I liked the way my tan looked after I washed off the guide, but my tan only lasted one day!

I would’ve liked my tan to be darker, but at least it was even and natural looking.

How Long It Lasts

I feel like Vita Liberata Skin Respect really cheats you in this department.

My tan only lasted one day.

The day after I showered the guide off, my body was back to looking really pale.

For such an expensive tan, I’d like to see it last at least 3-5 days.

I was really disappointed it faded so quickly.

If you want to maintain any color, you’ll have to apply this one every day.

OK For Men?

No way.

Men, stay away from this one.

It’s SO expensive, the color is below average and your tan won’t last longer than a day. Not to mention, it’s a big pain to apply.

Price

This is one of the most expensive self tanners I’ve tried, if not THE most expensive.

The 3.38 oz bottle sells for $60.00.

Per ounce that’s $17.75…no thank you!
