Overall Opinion:
I’m a big fan of the Tarte cosmetic line, so I was very excited to try Tarte Brazilliance 2-Hour Express Tan.
There are many positives about this self-tanner. It’s extremely easy to apply, has a rapid dry-time allowing you to move on with your day, and the tan it produces is both natural-looking and fades well.
On the flip side, the self-tanning odor associated with the product lingers until you rinse the tanner off, and despite leaving the foam on for 12+ hours, it only resulted in a minor color change.
This product may be a great fit for those new to tanning, or individuals who only want a hint of color on their skin. For me, however, the tan I achieved simply wasn’t dark enough.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Tarte Brazilliance 2-Hour Express Tan has a dark brown color guard and it’s a tanning foam.
The foam was very comfortable to wear, both when immediately applied and when the tanner had absorbed. Any stickiness from the product also goes away 5 minutes post-application.
The dark color guard starts to fade at 10 minutes post-application. Your skin looks a little darker, but not off-colored as it does with the fresh color guard.
Overall, this was a super comfortable self-tanner to use and wear!
Application
This tanning foam was extremely easy to apply! I always use a tanning mitt to apply foams, and that worked well with this product, as well.
I found I needed 3 pumps for each area of my body. You can probably get away with 1-2 as they instruct on their packaging, but using the extra pump made application seamless.
I also didn’t experience any streaking when applying Tarte Brazilliance 2-Hour Express Tan. Since it has a color guard, you can see the areas you need to go over again, and it didn’t lift any of the product already on the skin.
Drying Time
I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly Tarte Brazilliance 2-Hour Express Tan dried, especially since it’s a foam.
After just two minutes post-application, most of the stickiness had gone away completely. And after five minutes post-application, I was able to comfortably get dressed.
I really liked this aspect of the tanner as it allowed me to move on with my day. The color guard also fades after about 10 minutes, so this really doesn’t add much of a step when getting ready for the day.
Smell (Before Application)
Tarte Brazilliance 2-Hour Express Tan doesn’t have a strong odor to begin with, so that’s always a plus!
However, the scent it does have smells like self-tanner attempting to be masked by a sweet scent. I didn’t really like the scent but it’s pretty run-of-the-mill for tanning foams, and like I said above, it wasn’t an overpowering scent.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
Unfortunately, the self-tanner odor lingers until you take your next shower.
It isn’t super strong, but it was a bit of a bummer since I didn’t shower until over 12 hours later.
Color Produced
I’m not overly impressed with the tan I achieved.
This is an express tan, so you only have to leave it on for 2 hours, but I ended up sleeping with it on.
On the positive side, it’s a very natural-looking tan, free of any orange undertones, so the color you do get is very pretty.
However, it’s a very light tan. I had to look pretty closely to see any major color changes to my complexion. This surprised me since it was such a dark foam to begin with, and I left it on for over 12 hours. I wouldn’t recommend leaving it on as long as I did, I only did so because I slept with it on!
This wasn’t nearly dark enough for me, but this might work well for those new to tanning, especially since it’s so easy to apply, or individuals who just want a small hint of color on their skin.
How Long It Lasts
The tan I achieved with Tarte Brazilliance 2-Hour Express Tan lasted for about 2-3 days.
It also faded really nicely, so I didn’t have to worry about any streaking or splotchy patches.
OK For Men?
No, Again, it won’t deliver much color payoff, unfortunately.
Price
Tarte Brazilliance 2-Hour Express Tan is a very affordable tanning option, especially given how much product you get.
It wasn’t personally worth the money to me since the tan produced wasn’t dark enough, but I think it’s worth the money for new tanners or those looking for a very light tan.
