Top 10 Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Dihydroxyacetone, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Stearate
Overall Opinion:
I was very disappointed with St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Lotion, so I gave it 1.75 out of 5 stars.
The main thing I disliked about this self tanner is that it doesn’t work! I woke up so pale, and was MAYBE one shade darker.
You’ll probably need to apply this one daily to get just a light tan.
It also smells really bad, like sour DHA.
The drying time and price are average, but everything else is below par.
Overall, I’m not a fan of this self tanner.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Lotion is a very think, dark lotion.
It’s on the watery side, which makes it difficult to deal with.
The guide is very dark, it’s a rich brown color.
Application
I applied it with a mitt, which is easier than applying it with your bare hands.
This self tanner is pretty liquidy, so if you don’t use a mitt it will get all over the place.
It also has a super dark guide that will stain your hands.
The dark guide helps you see where you’re applying the lotion, which I know some of you really like.
It didn’t take too long to blend in the biggest hassle is dealing with the runny product.
Drying Time
As far as drying time goes, this one is pretty average.
It dried in about 30 minutes, and then I was able to put my clothes back on.
As it dried I didn’t feel sticky, but my skin felt a little wet.
After the lotion dried my skin felt smooth and soft.
This one did stain my sheets a bit too, which totally sucks.
Smell (Before Application)
This one smells oh so bad.
It smells like sour DHA to me.
I really didn’t care for the smell at all, I almost couldn’t stomach it.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
The sour DHA smell stuck around and grew stronger as my tan developed.
By the morning, I couldn’t wait to wash the disgusting smell off my body!
Color Produced
I was really disappointed with the color this one produced.
I’ve tried a few St. Tropez self tanners and have been happy with the tan I got, but this one didn’t give me any color at all!
I woke up feeling just as pale as I was the day before. I was maybe one shade darker.
My tan was so light, and I really didn’t feel tan at all.
You’ll need to apply this one a few days in a row to achieve a light shade tan.
I felt like the only color I got was from the guide, and that washed off in the shower.
How Long It Lasts
Since my tan was SO light, I’d say it maybe lasted one day.
OK For Men?
No. I don’t think men are looking for a non-existent tan!
Price
St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Lotion costs $42 per bottle, which seems expensive. But it’s a pretty big bottle, so it works out to $5.25 per ounce, which is only slightly higher than average.
It’s still wayyy too expensive for a self tanner that doesn’t work.
