Overall Opinion:

I really wanted to like the product. I love when companies come out with innovative new products and technologies, but I wasn’t too impressed with this one so I gave it 2 out of 5 stars.

I’m a big fan of some of St. Tropez’s products, so I was really pumped when they launched this one. I thought it’d be convenient and easy to use. I was wrong.

First off, application isn’t as easy as it appears. You have to stand in the cold for 3 minutes while you wait for the product to absorb, and then after you rinse it off my shower became so slippery I almost fell.

The color it produces it ok, but you’ll have to apply it a few days in a row in order to reach it. After one application you can barely see any tan at all.

There’s no drying time, which is a HUGE plus.

But the smell is way too strong and overwhelming, it’s not a refreshing smell either.

Overall, I had higher hopes for St. Tropez In Shower Gradual Tan.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

St. Tropez In Shower Gradual Tan is a thick, white lotion. The lotion is very slick and slimy feeling.

Application

In theory, application should be easier than most because you apply it in the shower.

I still found applying this to be messy and annoying.

You’re directed to wet your skin, then turn the shower off and apply the tanner. First of all, since your skin is wet, the lotion doesn’t really blend into your skin, it kind of just sits on top of it. So you sit there fir 3 minutes with a filmy residue all over your body, and it looks white because it doesn’t blend in.

Then you’re directed to wash off your hands after applying it. Um, how am I supposed to wash my hands while my shower is turned off? So you have to turn the shower back on and make sure not to let any water splash on your tan….that’s not as easy as it sounds. My feet and ankles were inevitably splashed with water, which cause a few water marks in my tan.

After waiting the full 3 minutes, you then wash the tanner off.

Once I washed the tanner off, I noticed the residue stuck to my shower floor making it VERY slippery! So make sure you watch out for that, as I almost fell.

Another thing I didn’t like is I was freezing while I stood there for 3 minutes waiting for the color to develop. When you’re taking a hot, relaxing shower the last thing you want to do is turn the shower off and stand there all wet….I was so cold!

So I found that applying this one wasn’t much easier than applying your normal self tanner.

Drying Time

The good news is there’s no drying time for this one.

Once you rinse it off in the shower you’re good to go.

I didn’t notice any sticky residue or product on my skin once I stepped out of the shower, which was nice.

Smell (Before Application)

When I shower I want to smell clean and refreshing.

This smell was WAY too heavy and smelled very strongly of floral perfume.

It’s not a scent I want to smell while I’m trying to get clean.

I didn’t smell any DHA, but I wasn’t a fan of the scent of this one.

It kind of resembled old lady perfume :(

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

I could still smell the strong perfume scent on my body for a while after I got out of the shower.

It finally dissipated after about 6 hours.

I never smelled any DHA while using this product.

Color Produced

After one application I saw a slight tan color to my skin, but it wasn’t very noticeable.

After using the product a few more times it got about 1-2 shades darker.

The tan I got wasn’t very dark, but it looked nice.

I would’ve liked it to be darker, but for those of you with super pale skin I think you’ll like the color.

The color was a natural brown color, but I think you’ll need to apply the product often to maintain it.

Overall, the color ended up being decent, but too light for the work you have to put in.

How Long It Lasts

My tan lasted around 3 days before it faded.

It became splotchy and scaley in some areas as it faded.

OK For Men?

This one is a lot of work, so I don’t think men will like it.

It’s just as messy as applying a regular self tanner and the color it produced is pretty light.
