Overall Opinion:
I gave NKD SKN Tinted Tan Mousse 2.5 out of 5 stars. It was very average, and nothing about this product really stood out to me (expect for the lack of smell).
I tested the dark shade, and after I washed the guide off I was left with a light to medium shade tan which was a bit disappointing. I wish my tan was deeper as it was a decent, natural color.
Application is very messy due to the consistency of the product. It drips and runs all over the place and it stained my towels and clothes.
The awesome thing about NKD SKN Tinted Tan Mousse is it doesn’t smell like anything at all. I don’t know how they do it!
Overall, I wasn’t super impressed with this mousse, but it wasn’t the worst out there either.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
This is a light, bubble mousse with a black color.
It has a super dark guide in it, it almost looks pitch black.
The mousse itself is bubbly, and a little on the thinner side.
Application
Application is pretty messy due to the dark color guard and the texture of the mousse.
As I was applying the mousse to my legs, the product kept dripping and running down onto my feet, which caused some weird looking lines in my tan.
They provide you with a mitt to apply the product with, but the mitt is really tiny. It only fits over like 3 of your fingers, and doesn’t cover a lot of area at once.
I tried using the mitt they supplied at first, but it was taking so long and was so difficult to use, that I ended up using a full sized mitt to apply the rest.
I like the idea of them providing a mitt to use, but it definitely needs to be bigger.
When I used the larger mitt, application became easier, but you need to be super careful because the guide is so dark.
It stained some of my towels and clothing it touched.
It was also difficult getting the guide to go on smooth. I had a lot of streaks that wouldn’t blend in.
Drying Time
This one took 20-25 minutes to completely to dry, which is pretty average.
Most mousses dry pretty quickly, but this one just too a bit longer to dry.
You literally can’t touch anything while you wait for it to dry or else it will stain it.
Smell (Before Application)
Vita Liberata uses an odour remove technology, and I’m shocked at how well it works!
Going on this product literally has no scent; it’s amazing.
I like that I didn’t have to worry about any DHA or gross smell.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
As the product developed I couldn’t smell any DHA or scent.
However, the next morning I smelled the slightest hint if DHA, but it really didn’t bother me because it was so faint.
Color Produced
When I woke up in the morning, the guide was all streaked and I looked so bad.
I had streaks all up and down by butt and legs, I was so scared it was going to look bad once I showered the tan off.
Once I showered my tan off, I was happy that those unpleasant streaks had faded away, but so had my dark tan :(
I was left with a light to medium shade tan with a few splotches.
I was surprised how much of the color washed off in the shower. I was definitely expecting my tan to be deeper in color.
I was disappointed with how light it was. I’ve heard some other people say the same thing happened to them when using this one :(
This is more of a light-medium color, not dark as the bottle advertises.
The color was decent, just not very dark.
How Long It Lasts
This one faded away surprisingly fast.
After about 2 days my tan was pretty much gone.
I wish it would’ve lasted longer.
OK For Men?
If men are looking for a light to medium tan, this one is ok. But if you’re looking to be darker, I don’t think they’ll like it.
Application is also pretty messy, but there’s no smell which is nice.
Price
NKD SKN Tinted Tan Mousse works out to $5.77 per ounce which is an average price point.
It’s definitely an affordable self tanner, but I don’t think there’s anything really special about it.
