Overall Opinion:
I was really excited the first time I used this self tanner. I literally loved everything about it; I was just waiting to see how my color developed. Sadly, I was really disappointed when I woke up and saw no tan at all. Since it’s a gradual tanner, I figured I’d use it a few more times in order to deepen my tan. After a few more uses, my tan didn’t get much darker at all. I didn’t even get a light tan; it was more like an all over “glow”.
So I was really let down with the results this one gives. I also ended up using almost the entire bottle over just a few full body applications.
As for the things I like about this one, it’s literally everything else besides the color (or lack of color) it produces.
It smells SO good; this is definitely one of the best smelling self tanners on the market. It smells fresh and fruity!
It also dries pretty quickly, considering how thick the product is. It only took about 15-20 minutes to dry. It didn’t feel sticky afterwards either.
So overall, I like everything about this self tanner except the color it produces, which is a big thing to not like. I unfortunately won’t be using St. Tropez Gradual Tan Watermelon Infusion again.
I ended up ranking it 2.5 out of 5 stars.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
St. Tropez Gradual Tan Watermelon Infusion is a thick, white cream. It resembles body butter in its texture. It has no color guide, so you can’t see where you’re applying it.
Application
Applying this lotion is extremely easy. I chose to use a tanning mitt, like I always do when I apply self tanner. It just makes it easier and I know my palms won’t end up looking weird.
This self tanner is pretty thick, so it takes a little bit of elbow grease to blend it in, but nothing too crazy.
I like how clean this one is; I just felt like I was applying my normal body lotion.
One thing I don’t care for is how much product I used for only one application. I think you’ll only get about 3-4 applications out of one bottle. I think because the product is so thick, you need a lot to cover your body.
Drying Time
I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly this one dried. After I applied, I felt dry in only 15 minutes.
I was expecting a longer drying time because this product is so thick, but thankfully that isn’t the case.
Smell (Before Application)
This is one of the best smelling self tanners I’ve ever smelled. I absolutely love the smell.
It’s fruity and refreshing. I smell a little bit of watermelon, but mostly I just smell a sweet smell.
It does a great job covering up any DHA as well.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
The next morning I could still smell hints of the fruity smell, but most of it was gone. The good news is I didn’t smell any DHA!
Color Produced
This is where this product disappointed for me.
This is a gradual self tanner, so I didn’t expect to get a dark tan by any means. But I did expect to get some color after a few applications.
After one application, I had no color at all, and after a few applications, I only had an extremely light tan. My husband said he couldn’t see any difference in my skin color at all.
It sucks because I really like this product, and I wish it worked!
It may work for those of you who are extremely pale or if you’re just looking for an overall “glow”.
How Long It Lasts
My tan didn’t even last a day because there was hardly any color at all.
OK For Men?
No, I don’t think men will be happy with the color this gradual self tanner produces.
Price
St. Tropez Gradual Tan Watermelon Infusion is $25.00 per bottle. That works out to $3.73 per bottle, which is a good price point, even a little less than average.
