Overall Opinion:

I gave Sosu Dripping Gold Self Tanner 4.5 out of 5 stars. So this self tanner is definitely better than average, although it’s not perfect.

This is an international tanning brand, so it costs a boatload to get it to the USA.  The total comes to almost $50, which is outrageous for a self tanner in my opinion.  Especially when the bottle is smaller than most mousses.

As far as the positives go, this one smells good, it produces a nice, natural color, and the drying time isn’t bad.  I tried the Dark shade, and I got a dark tan.  I had some streaking that I wish wasn’t there, but overall, the color is a really nice shade.  I felt bronzed and beautiful!

I also enjoy the sweet scent this one has; it does a nice job covering up the DHA.

Now, this isn’t a self tanner for those who are new to using self tanners.  The dark color guide and deep color it produces leave very little room for error.

I’m a VERY experienced self tanner and I even had streaks up and down my arms!  I had to wear long sleeves until I was able to fade them.  It’s hard to tell if they were from user error, or if that’s just how the product is.  I was very careful when applying it however.

I also wish the product was cheaper and more readily available in the US, there’s not much I can do about that though!

So overall, I think this Sosu Mousse is a very good option as far as getting a deep tan.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

This tanning mousse has a nice texture, maybe a little on the thinner side as far as mousses go.  It also has a very dark brown guide in it.  So my body looked VERY dark immediately after application.

Application

Sosu Dripping Gold is easy to apply, although the mousse doesn’t blend in as well as others.  After I applied it, I was left looking very streaky, and didn’t have that smooth look I was going for yet.

You also have to be so careful while applying this one because the dark guide will stain if you get it on anything.

I highly recommend using a tanning mitt to apply or else you risk turning your palms/hands orange and unnatural.

This is a dark mousse, so you really need to take your time while applying to make sure you get every nook and cranny.  I’ll just say this one isn’t a good choice for a new self tanner because there’s very little room for error.

On their website, it says the tan is “ready to wear”, which is completely false.  I looked like a freak once I had applied it and was way too dark to go out in public.  I’d definitely recommend waiting until you wash this one off to go out of the house!

But overall, the application is pretty straightforward and I didn’t have any major issues with it.

Drying Time

This one has an average drying time, and like most mousses, it feels sticky until it dries.  It’s very rare I find a tanning mousse that doesn’t feel sticky at all.

Sosu Dripping Gold dries in about 25 minutes.

Smell (Before Application)

The website says this mousse has a “tropical scent”.  I’m not sure I’d classify this scent as tropical, but it does smell good.

It has a light, perfumey, sweet scent that I think most people will enjoy.  A little bit of DHA smell comes through as well, but it’s not too overpowering.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

After I left the product on overnight, it didn’t smell as good on my skin.  The sweet smell was all but gone, and I could smell a little bit of DHA lingering on my skin.

Once I showered the product off, all smell went away completely.

Color Produced

Sosu Dripping Gold Mousse comes in three shades: Medium, Dark, and Ultra Dark.  I purchased and tested the Dark one.  This is a mousse you leave on overnight; it takes at least 7 hours to develop.

After only one application, I’m happy to say I got a very dark tan!  The color was a deep golden tone, as advertised.  I really like the shade I was, I looked like I’d been out in the sun for a few days.  The color looked great on my skin tone, but I could see it being too dark or “orange” for some people out there with extremely fair skin types.

There’s one thing I really don’t like though… I had streaks!  I thought I did a very thorough job applying it, but it’s so dark that there’s very little room for error.  So I ended up with streaks all up and down my arms (it wasn’t pretty let me tell ya).  I’m not sure if this was user error, or just due to the super dark guide being hard to blend in.

So I really like the color this one gives, I just wish it didn’t have the streakiness that was so obvious.  That’s a dead giveaway that I used a self tanner!

How Long It Lasts

This mousse lasted about 5 days on my skin.  As it faded, my skin became pretty patchy and weird looking, but I’ve come to expect that with most dark self tanners.  Most of the time they don’t fade naturally because they’re making your skin so much darker.

So I just had to exfoliate a few days in a row in order to get the tanner off.  I think this one will be best used once weekly.

OK For Men?

Yes, if you have experience with self tanners.  If not, I’d start out with an easier product to use, or the Sosu Medium shade.

Price

On the Sosu website, the product is listed at $25.06, which sounds pretty affordable.  But then you get to the shipping, and they tack on an additional $22 for shipping to the USA!  That makes this self tanner almost $50, which is so expensive!
