Overall Opinion:

I give Freshly Baked London Watermelon Mousse 4.25 out of 5 stars, so I’m pretty impressed with it.

To start off with, I tested it in the Dark shade and got a nice deep tan after just one application.  My tan was very smooth and natural looking, just like I like it. It didn’t have any orange tint on my skin tone, so you couldn’t even tell I used self tanner.  They also have an original shade for those of you who don’t want to be as dark.

Application is easy, just beware that the guide is very dark.  So you’ll need to use caution when applying it so you don’t stain anything!

One thing I really don’t like is that they don’t advertise there is Vitamin A in the mousse.  This can be a very harmful ingredient for pregnant or nursing moms.  I used self tanner through my pregnancy, and I know many moms do as well, so just make sure to avoid this one if you’re expecting.  I wouldn’t even think to check for vitamin A in here, so I really wish they made it more obvious that it’s in there.

For all of you pregnant or nursing moms, there are some self tanners out there I like even better than this one that don’t have any harmful ingredients ;)

So, I really like the results this one produces and I think it’s a great one for those of you who aren’t pregnant or nursing.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

This mousse is a dark brown color (with a greenish hue); the texture is very fluffy and airy.

Application

I used a tanning mitt to apply this mousse and found it very easy to blend in.  As long as you’re ready for a very dark guide, you shouldn’t have any issues.

To me, the guide almost looked green on my skin, thankfully that didn’t translate into the color produced.

You definitely need to pay attention while applying this one.  If you get the product on anything, it will stain.

Drying Time

As with most mousses, this one felt sticky while drying.  It took about a total of 35 minutes to dry, which I’ve found is pretty normal when it comes to self tanning mousses.  For some reason, they just don’t dry as quick as lotions or sprays.

Smell (Before Application)

This Freshly Baked Mousse claims to have a watermelon scent.  I honestly don’t think it smells very much like watermelon, but it does have a sweet smell to it.

However, it also smells like DHA as well.  So, it smells both good and bad at the same time.  But I’d say the smell is better than most during the application process.

This brand seems to have a lot of good/interesting scents.  There are so many to choose from including baby powder, amaretto, and mango.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

By the next morning, I could smell more DHA so my skin didn’t smell very pleasant.  The sweet smell was pretty much gone.

Color Produced

I’m very impressed with the color this mousse gives me.  They have two shades in their mousses: Original and Dark.  I tried the dark, watermelon scent mousse.

After I showered off the color guide the morning after applying it, I had a golden, dark tan.  The directions say to leave on for 4 hours for a medium tan and 8 hours for a dark tan.  I left mine on overnight, so 8 hours.

I was really surprised with how natural the color is with this mousse.  I didn’t expect to look so sunkissed and dark.  I even got a few compliments on my tan, which is always nice!

My tan was about 4-5 shades darker, so it’s definitely a noticeable tan.  For those of you looking for a more natural look, maybe start out with the original shade instead of the dark.

How Long It Lasts

I found my tan lasted about 4-5 days before it didn’t look so good.  I’m pretty impressed with this, as it faded pretty naturally.

I didn’t notice any extreme dryness or patchiness while fading, which can happen with darker self tanners.

OK For Men?

Yes, it produces a great color and is easy to use.

Price

The price point of Freshly Baked London Watermelon is great.  It’s $18.50 per bottle, and one bottle should last you about a month or two.
