Overall Opinion:

I was a bit apprehensive about trying SOL by Jergens Medium Water Mousse since I haven’t had great luck with water mousse products in the past. Thankfully, this product exceeded my expectations!

The tanning mousse is easy to apply and resulted in a medium tan after 12 hours of wear. The quick dry time and affordable price tag are also major pros for this product.

Unfortunately, this product has a very strong perfume scent upon application, which may be too much for some customers, and my tan only lasted 48 hours, shorter than most tans I’ve achieve with a tanning mousse.

Overall, this product is definitely worth the money, and a great option for those new to tanning and/or those trying to stick to a budget!

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

SOL by Jergens Medium Water Mousse is a white mousse. As the name suggests, the texture of the mousse is a bit more thin and watery than most other tanning mousses. With a mitt application is doable, but without a mitt it will be extremely messy to apply.

Since there isn’t a color guard, your skin looks the same post-application. I felt a little sticky while the product was drying, but once it had dried down completely, it was very comfortable to wear.

Application

The application is super simple. I made sure to apply it on clean skin, and used my tanning mitt for application.

There isn’t a color guard, so you’re tanning blind a little bit, but the texture of the mousse resulted in a streak-free tan, so I didn’t run into any problems without the guide on this tanning mousse.

You also don’t need to rinse this product off immediately, so once the tanner has dried down, you can move on with your day completely.

Drying Time

The dry time is about 15 minutes, which I love!

I was able to get fully dressed and move on with my day, so this is a major pro for this product, especially since a quick dry time is rare with a tanning mousse, in my experience.

Smell (Before Application)

SOL by Jergens Medium Water Mousse has such a strong perfume odor to it. It totally caught me off guard!

I didn’t dislike the scent per say, but it’s very overpowering.

It dissipated after the mousse dried down, and went away fully shortly after that, but if you’re someone who’s sensitive to odors in their products, definitely be aware of this aspect!

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

While the strong perfume scent disappeared after about 30 minutes, it was replaced by a self-tanner odor. BOO!

That smell was actually pretty strong, which surprised me since it wasn’t there to begin with. Thankfully, that only stuck around for about 6 hours.

Color Produced

I’m pleasantly surprised at the tan I achieved with SOL by Jergens Medium Water Mousse! As far as water mousses go, this one is pretty good.

After about 12 hours of wear, I noticed a medium tan emerge on my skin. The color was very natural overall, but I did notice a little orange tint around my elbows and knees.

Sol by Jergens also has a dark shade, so I’d be interested to see how much more of a color payoff I’d achieve with that shade, but I’m definitely pleased with the medium tan this product produced.

How Long It Lasts

I was a bit disappointed at the length of time my tan lasted with SOL by Jergens Medium Water Mousse.

Normally I get a solid 3 days, if not more, with a tanning mousse, but my tan with this product only lasted for about two days.

This didn’t bother me a ton, however, because the product is very affordable and super easy to apply, so needing to do so every few days isn’t much of a burden. It’s a shorter tan length than most tanning mousses, though.

OK For Men?

Yes! SOL by Jergens Medium Water Mousse is a suitable option for anyone looking to achieve a medium tan.

However, the initial scent upon application is very feminine. The strong perfume odor would be overwhelming for many men, so you might not want to leave the house immediately post-application.

Price

SOL by Jergens Medium Water Mousse is definitely worth the money. For starters, it’s one of the most affordable tanning mousses I’ve seen on the market, so you get a lot of product from your money.

It also genuinely delivers a medium tan, and I have no doubts that the deep shade would deliver even more of a color payoff. This is definitely a great option for anyone, especially those on a budget!
