Overall Opinion:

On the surface, CleanTan Quickie Concentrate Tanning Drops seems like an awesome product. You can mix the drops into your own body moisturizer, and the product itself is plant-based and filled with antioxidants.

As much as I wanted to love this product, there honestly isn’t much to desire about it. The biggest issue? It simply didn’t result in any sort of tan on my skin.

It’s also a difficult product to work with, despite how easy it seems, and the instructions for the proper mixing ratio is hard to understand. Add that to a strong, medicine-like odor and an expensive price tag, and you’re left with little to be excited about.

Unfortunately, these CleanTan tanning drops are a product to pass on.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

CleanTan Quickie Concentrate Tanning Drops are dark brown, liquid drops. When you mix them into your chosen moisturizer or serum, however, it only slightly tints the product. So I wouldn’t say this tanner has a color guard, despite the initial look of the product.

The drops didn’t alter the feel of my body lotion when I applied it to my body, but it did make my lotion feel stickier post-application. This lasted until the lotion absorbed completely.

The brand claims that the tanning drops give you an instant golden-brown color upon application, but that wasn’t my experience. My skin looked exactly the same.

Application

The application seems super easy, but that’s actually not the case.

For starters, the mixing instructions given in the packaging say to mix 1 part CleanTan with 3 parts lotion for a light tan, and add CleanTan and subtract lotion to deepen the color.

I didn’t totally understand the directions, but assumed it meant one drop per three pumps of lotion. I opted to do 4 drops per 1 pump of lotion, which was said to result in a dark tan.

Since the drops are liquid, as well, it was a little tricky to keep from getting them all over my bathroom or avoid having them run off my hands entirely. However, I think I was able to mix it thoroughly when it was all said and done.

Once the product is mixed, it’s easy to apply since you apply the product exactly as you normally would.

Drying Time

Since I added CleanTan Quickie Concentrate Tanning Drops to my body lotion, I noticed it took longer for my moisturizer to absorb than normal.

I’d say it was an extra 5-10 minutes post-application for my lotion to absorb, so that’s what I’ll call the dry time. However, it could vary based on the product you choose to mix the tanning drops into.

Smell (Before Application)

CleanTan Quickie Concentrate Tanning Drops smell awful, in my opinion. The brand claims that the drops have an herbal scent, like chai tea, but that’s definitely not what I smelled.

To me, the drops smelled like cold medicine—something along the lines of NyQuil.

Thankfully, once the drops were mixed into my body lotion, the scent went away completely so it’s only an initial odor that you have to deal with.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

No scent developed the longer I wore CleanTan Quickie Concentrate Tanning Drops.

I had the product on for nearly 24 hours before showering again, so there definitely isn’t any lingering scent with this product.

Color Produced

There isn’t much to say about the tan I achieved with these tanning drops. Unfortunately, I didn’t see any change to my skin period.

I’m super surprised, especially since I used the most amount of drops and least amount of body lotion based on their mixing chart. You’d think I’d see some sort of difference, especially since they offer mixing ratios for much lighter tans.

I also kept the product on for an entire day before showering, and the brand says you’ll see the tan deepen in 6-8 hours.

Overall, this was a major letdown.

How Long It Lasts

Since I didn’t develop any tan with CleanTan Quickie Concentrate Tanning Drops, I’d have to say the tan lasts 0 days.

OK For Men?

No, but only because these tanning drops aren’t a great option for anyone.

They’re expensive and don’t result in any color change, even when using the maximum amount of product recommended.

Price

CleanTan Quickie Concentrate Tanning Drops are on the pricey side of self-tanners. You do get quite a lot of product, but since the product doesn’t actually work, it’s definitely not worth the money.
