Overall Opinion:

I was really disappointed with NKD SKN Pre Shower Tan and gave it 1 out of 5 stars.

There wasn’t much I liked about it, even though I love the idea of a 10 minute Pre Shower Tan.  It just doesn’t work as good as it sounds.

Even though the product is cream in color, it stained the bench I sat on!  I was so mad about this.

The color is so light it’s almost nonexistent.  Now, this is a gradual self tanner, but even after 3 uses, I barely had any color at all.

You also use a ton of product with each full body application, so one bottle won’t last you long at all.

So overall, I gave this self tanner 1 out of 5 stars.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

This lotion is very slick and thick in texture.  It’s slimy feeling and has a cream color to it.

The lotion is creamy and soft.

Application

With this self tanner, you apply it 10 minutes before you get in the shower.  It’s the first self tanner I’ve ever heard of only leaving on for 10 minutes, and I love the idea of it.

So, when I applied NKD SKN Pre Shower Tan, I used my hands, no tanning mitt.  The product has no color guide, so you don’t need to worry about it getting all over your palms.  But still make sure to wash your hands thoroughly after applying.

After applying it (it went on and blended in very easily), I found the product just sat on my skin, didn’t really absorb.  But the good news is you only need to keep it on for 10 minutes!

While I waited the 10 minutes to shower, I made the mistake of sitting on a fabric bench I have.  The next morning I walked by it and realized this product totally stained my bench!  I was very mad to say the least.  So even though this lotion doesn’t have a color guide, it still stains.

I also felt like I used a LOT of product to cover my whole body, and I’m relatively small.  I don’t think the bottle will last anyone more than like 3 or 4 applications (which is silly because it’s a gradual tanner, so that’s basically just one tan’s worth).

Drying Time

Well, this one you only need to leave on for 10 minutes, which is nice.  But the whole 10 minutes my skin felt sticky and wet.

Smell (Before Application)

NKD SKN Pre Shower Tan smells pretty bad.

It smells like pure DHA, which is super gross.  I don’t know why it smelled so strongly of chemicals, maybe they put a crap load of DHA in there.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

After I showered the product off, I couldn’t smell any DHA. But by the next morning, the DHA smell was back.  I think after it developed over night, the DHA smell became more apparent.  My skin really reeked the next day, and I couldn’t get the DHA smell to go away.

Color Produced

This is a gradual tanner, so you need to apply it a few days in a row until you reach your desired shade.

After one application, I literally saw zero results.  I wasn’t any tanner than the day before and I was really upset.

After two more days of use, I still wasn’t tan at all.  I was maybe a shade darker…more like ½ shade darker.  I was so upset with the color payoff of this tan, especially because it’s not the easiest one to use.  It’s not exactly convenient to stand around naked for 10 minutes before your shower.

I really don’t even think it will work for those of you with the palest skin, unless you apply it like 7 days in row (you may need two bottles for that). It only ended up giving me a very slight glow, no tan at all.

Overall, the color (or lack thereof) was disappointing to me.

How Long It Lasts

Um, well I guess my tan lasted one day (hard to tell because it was barely even there in the first place).

OK For Men?

No, unfortunately I don’t think men will like this Pre-Shower tan.

Price

NKD SKN Pre Shower Tan is $19.99 per bottle, which is a good price, but I wouldn’t pay it again for this product in particular.
