Overall Opinion:

This Bondi Sands self tanner fell short after trying it, so I gave it 2 out of 5 stars.

I was mostly disappointed in the lack of color produced after keeping it on all night long.  It was a light to medium tan and I had a lot of streaks.

The drying time also sucks.  It took an hour to completely dry and I was sticky for a good 45 minutes; I just felt nasty.

The smell is good before application, but after the color develops, it smells gross.

The price is fine, but Bondi Sands doesn’t even accept returns, which is always a negative in my eye.

So overall, I gave this self tanning lotion 2 out of 5 stars.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

Bondi Sands Self Tanning Lotion is a thin lotion with a dark brown guide.  The guide almost has a greenish tint to it.

The lotion is on the thinner side, which makes it pretty easy to apply, and the guide helps you see where you’re applying.

Application

I would strongly suggest using a tanning mitt while applying this one, just because of the dark guide.  I used my mitt and it was pretty easy to apply.

The guide blends in okay, after I was finished applying, I looked pretty dirty due to the guide.

Other than that, I found application to be pretty easy and straightforward.

Drying Time

I was sticky for at least 45 minutes after applying this lotion!

It felt gross and dirty.  I wish it dried faster, but my tan took almost an hour to dry completely.  I didn’t feel comfortable putting my clothes on until after the product was dry because it has a dark guide that will stain if you aren’t careful.

Smell (Before Application)

Bondi Sands Self Tanning Lotion smells good before application.  In the bottle it smells tropical, kind of like the beach.  Although I could smell traces of DHA behind the tropical scent, I still consider this a good smelling product.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

The DHA smell definitely became more prevalent as my tan developed over the next 6 hours.

By the morning, the DHA smell was overpowering and it smells really bad.

Color Produced

So the directions on the tanner say you can wash the tanner off after 1 hour, or for a darker tan, you can leave on up to 6 hours.

I left the product on overnight, the full 6 hours.  First of all, I’m kind of confused… is this a 1 Hour Tan or not?

Anyways, after showering it off the next morning, I was really disappointed with how light my tan was.  I was expecting a deep bronze color because I left the lotion on overnight.  Instead, I had a light to medium tan with streaks.  The streaks were on my arms and legs, and they weren’t pretty at all.

I don’t know how they can call this their “dark” shade because it’s really more of a light/medium shade.

My tan was also a little on the orange side.  Not crazy bad, but definitely noticeable.

So overall, I was pretty unhappy with how my tan turned out.

How Long It Lasts

My Bondi Sands tan lasted about 3-4 days.  As it faded, it actually became more even because the streaks were less noticeable.

OK For Men?

No.  I think they’ll be disappointed by the lack of color, and also the drying time.

Price

Bondi Sands Self Tanning Lotion is $24.00 per bottle, which is a good price, but I was disappointed in the color produced.  They also don’t accept returns, which I think is very lame.
