Overall Opinion:

After testing out this very unique product, I gave it 3.5 out of 5 stars.

It’s definitely an above average product, but it’s a little different than most self tanners.

This is a liquid foundation and self tanner in one, and I actually really like that.

You kill two birds with one stone by applying your makeup and self tanner in the morning.

There’s no smell to this product, and it’s really easy to apply.  You just apply it like you do your liquid foundation.

This is a gradual self tanner, so you’re going to need to use it a few days in a row to see any color change.  After 3 days, I had a light tan.  You’ll need to continue daily use to keep your tan up, but that’s not a hug deal if you use makeup everyday.

One thing I don’t like is that they only have 3 makeup shades to choose from, so you better hope your skin tone works with one of them.  My face also became too dark for the makeup after using the tanner a few days.  And that looked kinda funny.

But overall, I was pretty pleased with Almay Healthy Glow.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

Almay Healthy Glow comes with a dual pump; it dispenses foundation out of one side, and self tanner out of the other side.  The foundation looks similar to any other liquid foundation does.  It’s a nice texture, and not runny.

The self tanner comes out a clear, yellow color and is very thick. Once I pumped some onto my hand, I used my foundation brush to swirl it around and mix the two products together.

Since this is a face makeup, you don’t need to worry about a dark brown guide getting all over or staining.

Application

Applying this self tanner is pretty easy.  You just apply it however you apply your liquid foundation.  So I use either a Beauty Blender or a foundation brush to apply.  That also helps keep your hands clean from the tanner.

I found this makeup blended very nicely, and looked very natural.  They say it’s a medium coverage, but I’d say it closer to a full coverage foundation.  It covered up my blemishes and red marks wonderfully.

Drying Time

It dried in less than 5 minutes, and then I dusted some loose powder over my skin.  The drying time wasn’t an issue at all, especially because you don’t need to wait around to put your clothes on because this one is solely applied to your face.

Smell (Before Application)

There wasn’t much of a smell when I applied it.  I could maybe smell a little DHA, but only if I tried hard.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

Throughout the day I didn’t smell anything out of the ordinary.  The DHA smell never became stronger, and I actually forgot I had self tanner on my face.

Color Produced

This is a gradual self tanner, and I’d say you need to wear it at least 3 days in a row to see any color. But by the end of day 3, I noticed my skin had a very healthy glow, and it definitely had a light tan to it.  The tan was very nice and smooth and the color was natural looking.

The only issue I had is you only apply this to your face, so while my face was becoming tanner, the rest of my body and neck stayed pale.  That caused it to look like my makeup didn’t match my skin tone.  I tried Almay Healthy Glow in the Light/Medium shade, and the first few days it matched my skin great, but after day 3, it looked way too dark on me because my face was becoming tanner.

They only have 3 shades to choose from, which is a change if you’re used to buying foundation at Mac or Estee Lauder.  But you have to remember this is a drugstore product, and for a drugstore foundation/self tanner, I was pretty impressed.

How Long It Lasts

Well, the makeup, only lasts until the end of the day when you wash it off.  But my tan lasted about 2 days, just because it was pretty light.  The nice thing is if you use this makeup every day, your tan will last until you stop using it.

OK For Men?

No.  I don’t think men will use this one, just because it comes in the form of makeup.
