Overall Opinion:
Overall, there were a lot of things we really didn’t like about this product.
The application was extremely messy and hard to clean up. The drying time was a lot longer than most; and I felt really sticky all night. The DHA smell is very prominent and it sticks with you even after the product is showered off.
The only thing we liked about this mist was the dark color it produced. The color was one of the darker ones we have tried, and we liked the brown, even tan it gave us.
We gave this one 2 out of 5 stars because it is a very inexpensive product, but there aren’t many things we liked about it. The only reason we’d use this one again is for the dark color!
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Neutrogena MicroMist came out as a very light mist, and has a nozzle that works at any angle. The “one touch continuous spray” is very fine, and comes out like spray sunscreen.
Application
The application of this product is extremely messy.
The mist got ALL over my floor and was extremely sticky and difficult to clean up. I had to bust out the Swiffer in order to ensure I couldn’t feel it on the ground.
There is no guide; the mist comes out as a clear liquid.
Drying Time
Surprisingly, this mist took a very long time to dry.
After an hour of waiting for it to dry, I still felt extremely sticky.
I was also very careful with what I touched, seeing as how sticky it made my bathroom floor.
Smell (Before Application)
I wasn’t a fan of the smell of this product.
It smelled like a mix between sunscreen and baby powder. I think it is supposed to smell “fresh”, but to me the DHA smell really overpowered any other odor.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
I could still smell this product on my skin the next day, even after I showered it off.
Like I said, I think the DHA smell overpowers any other smell….and DHA does not smell pleasant (as you all know)!
Color Produced
The best part about this product is definitely the color it produces.
The color was a very even dark shade.
It’s hard to find products that produce a color like this one, it gave me a dark bronze glow.
The bottle says it makes you 3 shades darker, and this is one product that actually lives up to that!
The color was perhaps a little orange, but not streaky.
How Long It Lasts
This product lasts about 3-4 days, which is average. It fades pretty evenly, the only areas that got a little splotchy were my wrists and ankles.
OK For Men?
I don’t think men will like this product because the application is SO messy. It’s a pain to put on because the mist gets all over your floors, counters, towels, etc.
Price
Neutrogena MicroMist Airbrush Tan costs $10.99 for a 5.3 ounce bottle, which compared to most self-tanners this is very cheap.
