Overall Opinion:

Before we get to what we like and don’t like, I will say it’s a hassle actually ordering Tan Physics.

It’s only sold online, and to get to their order form you have to give them your email address and name each time you order.

And then you’re hit with a several other offers for their exfoliator, tan extender, etc.

Trust me, it’s annoying.

With that said, let’s talk about the product itself…

Overall, Tan Physics is an average self tanner.

It dries faster than most products we’ve tried, which is a HUGE plus.  It also produces a nice, light-medium colored tan (although it’s definitely on the light side).

The biggest drawback of this product is the smell, which is kind of like a gross kitchen cleaner.

Taking everything into consideration, we gave this product 2.5 out of 5 stars.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

Tan Physics comes out a light brown, orangey color, almost like clay.  It’s a gel with a VERY thin consistency.

Application

Tan Physics has a light tint to it, but the tint doesn’t act as a guide as it quickly blends into your skin upon application.

The smooth gel consistency makes it easy to apply.

It wasn’t very messy applying this product, as it quickly absorbs into your body.

Drying Time

The best part about Tan Physics is the drying time, which is under 10 minutes!

Once on your body it doesn’t feel too stickyl and you won’t have to wait long before dressing or climbing into bed.

Since the tint is so light and the drying time is so fast, there wasn’t much of an issue with this product rubbing off on sheets or clothing.

Smell (Before Application)

The smell of Tan Physics is not a pleasant one; to me it smelled like household cleaner.

You can tell it was meant to smell like citrus, but it smells more like chemicals than orange or lemon.

It’s not the absolute worst smelling self tanner, but it was far from smelling “nice”.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

The unpleasant odor intensified a bit a few hours after application.

And the next day I smelled a slight hint of DHA after showering this product off.

Color Produced

Tan Physics produced a very even, light/medium tan.

This product leaves you looking sun-kissed and bronzed, without having too much of that “orange” look.

If you’re looking for a dark tan, this probably isn’t the product for you.  This one was very ‘middle of the road’ as far as color goes.

After application, I didn’t notice much streakiness or blotchiness that some self tanners leave.

How Long It Lasts

Tan Physics lasts abut 3-4 days, which is about average.

It fades a little splotchy in some areas, like many self tanners do.

OK For Men?

There are some things men will like about this product: the color produced and speedy drying time being the top two.

The only thing that may deter men from trying this product is the smell.  But if they can look past that, this product could be a winner for them.

Price

The 8 oz.  bottle costs $29.95 (plus a whopping $9.95 for shipping and handling), which makes it nearly $40 a bottle.

All in, that works out to $4.98 per ounce, which is just a little above average as far as most self tanners go.
