Overall Opinion:

This is only the second self tanner I’ve tried that includes sunscreen in it as well.  It’s an interesting concept; it’d be great if you could get a self tan while you were in the sun.  But for me, it simply just doesn’t work out.

When I’m outside in the sun, I’m usually in the pool or ocean.  So, this one would wash off of me before the tan had any time to develop.  It may work better for those of you who are outside, without being in the water.  But be careful, because even sweat may take the product off.

Now, this product worked just fine as a sunscreen.  But I’m not reviewing it as a sunscreen, I’m reviewing it as a self tanner.

So, I got literally no tan at all from this one :(

It also doesn’t smell good; it smells like chemicals to me.

It’s easy to apply and the cost is cheap, but I won’t be using this one again as a self tanner.

So I gave this product 1 out of 5 stars.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

This Mystic Tan spray comes out like your average sunscreen mist.  It’s a continuous mist, so it covers areas quickly and easily.  It’s pretty easy to even reach your back.

The mist is clear in color, so there’s no brown guide at all.  This one honestly resembles a sunscreen more than a self tanner.

Application

Mystic Tan 2 in 1 Sunscreen & Gradual Self Tanner is very easy to apply.  It applies just like any SPF mist does.  A lot of product falls on the ground and goes in the air, so I seemed to breathe in a lot of it while I was applying.

This is one self tanner I didn’t use a tanning mitt to apply, which is very rare for me.  I always use a mitt, but since this one is also a sunscreen, I didn’t feel the need to use one.

Since this one has no color guide, it was a little hard to make sure I covered all areas evenly.  But I apply SPF on a regular basis, so I felt comfortable with it.

Overall, I think this one is easy to apply, but definitely apply it in your shower or outside.

Drying Time

This one dried pretty instantaneously.  It literally dries in a few seconds.  Once I had moved on to a new area, the last area I applied to was already dried.

Smell (Before Application)

This SPF/self tanner doesn’t smell good at all.

It smells very strongly of chemical and SPF.  I didn’t smell any hints of fragrance at all, which was unfortunate.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

You don’t need to leave this one on overnight, which is nice.  Over the next few hours, the chemical smell dissipated, and I couldn’t really smell anything but sunscreen.

Color Produced

This product is different than your average self tanner.  It’s a sunscreen, that has a gradual tanner in it.

The directions say to apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure, and then every 2 hours after that.  So the directions look very similar to other sunscreens.

The problem I had with this self tanner is that I literally saw no tan at all.  I really like the idea of this product, but if you think about it, there’s really no way this will work unless you don’t get in the water.  If you’re swimming in the ocean or pool, that simply won’t give your tan enough to develop, so it’ll wash the product right off.

It says it’s a gradual tanner, so I waited until the next day to see if I saw any tan at all, and unfortunately, I didn’t.

It did its job just fine as a sunscreen though.

How Long It Lasts

I had no tan at all, so it lasted for no time, haha.

OK For Men?

No, this doesn’t work as a self tanner.  If you’re looking for a sunscreen, sure it will work, but there are others out there that smell way better than this one, in my opinion.

Price

Mystic Tan 2 in 1 Sunscreen & Gradual Self Tanner is $16.00 per bottle, so it’s a pretty affordable product.
