Overall Opinion:
After testing Moonlit Mermaid Sunless Tanner, I gave it 3.75 out of 5 stars.
My tan from this spray was gorgeous. Not to mention my skin looked flawless, which was a huge perk!
The thing I didn’t like about this one, is how long it takes to apply. You can only do one small area at a time, so it took me over 30 minutes to apply all over my body.
It smells pretty good, like cherry. Although, I did smell a hint of DHA when I woke up the next morning.
I also really like that it’s paraben free, gluten free, vegan and cruelty free.
So overall, I was pretty happy with this tanner and gave it 3.75 out of 5 stars.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Moonlit Mermaid Sunless Tanner comes in a pump spray bottle.
The product has a very dark guide, so it comes out looking dark brown.
The spray is obviously a liquid, and it comes out in a concentrated mist with a short range of spray.
Application
Applying this one is easier than a lot of mists out there, but it’s still pretty time consuming.
They provide you with latex gloves when you order this product. The instructions say to spray 3-4 pumps directly on to your skin and then blend in with the gloves. You do this on each area until you’ve covered your entire body.
I started on my legs, and sprayed 4 pumps. It looked like 4 quarter size black dots on my skin. I then blended it in with the latex gloves, which was surprisingly easy.
This one didn’t run all down my legs or body like some other sprays, because not a lot of product comes out at once.
If you move slowly through the application process, it’s pretty mess free. But keep in mind; it will take you a while to cover your whole body. (Probably close to 30 minutes).
Drying Time
Moonlit Mermaid Sunless Tanner took about 15-20 minutes to dry, which wasn’t too bad.
I didn’t feel sticky or gross while I waited for it to dry, but I had to be careful not to touch anything because it has a brown guide.
Smell (Before Application)
When I smelled it in the bottle, I didn’t like how it smelled. But once I started spraying it on my skin, I found the smell was actually pretty good. It smells like cherry to me (which usually isn’t my favorite smell), but I liked it because it was light.
It uses essential oils as fragrance, which I found interesting. Overall, I was happy with the way it smelled.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
The next morning, I could smell a little bit of DHA, but it wasn’t bad. And it went away completely once I washed my tan off.
Color Produced
I was very happy with how my tan/skin looked after using this self tanner.
I had a medium to dark tan and my skin looked flawless. After looking at the ingredients I noticed this Moonlit Mermaid Sunless Tanner has caffeine in it, and that’s been said to help the appearance of your skin.
My tan was pretty dark, and it was brown, not orange.
I had an area around my ankle that looked a little funky, but that could’ve been from user error.
I was very pleased with my tan from this spray.
How Long It Lasts
My tan lasted about 4-5 days, and it faded pretty evenly.
My skin was a bit dry as it faded, but I don’t know if that was from the self tanner or not (although it could have been).
OK For Men?
Yes, I think men will like this self tanner, if they have the time to apply it.
It’s very time consuming, but the color is worth it in the end.
Price
It’s about $7.00 per ounce. Which is definitely pricey for a self tanner.
