Top 10 Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Dihydroxyacetone, Cocomidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Olive Oil Peg-7 Esters, PEG-10 Sunflower Glycerides, Citric Acid, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut Oil), Argania Spinosa (Argan) Nut oil, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract (Green Tea Extract), Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (White Tea Extract)
Overall Opinion:
I gave Melissa Weinberg Self Tanning Mousse 2.75 out of 5 stars.
There are some things I like about this foam, but also some things I don’t like.
First off, I love the drying time. It dries so quickly, in under 10 minutes!
But the smell isn’t so great, it smells like chemicals to me. And after the chemical smell faded away, I smelled a little DHA.
The color was average in my opinion. I found a lot of my color came from the guide, and when I washed it off I was left with a light to medium shade tan.
The tan was even and natural, just not as dark as I’d like to be.
This foam is also pretty expensive, working out to $7.85 per ounce!
So overall, it was just slightly better than average.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Melissa Weinberg Self Tanning Mousse is a very foamy mousse, with a brown guide. The guide is dark, but not as dark as some out there. You can definitely see it going on your skin though. It’s a true brown color.
Application
I applied this one with a tanning mitt and suggest that you do the same.
By doing that, it was pretty easy to apply.
The guide blended nicely into my skin, although it was a bit streaky going on.
The foam held its shape nicely, so I didn’t have to worry about product dripping all over the place and staining.
The color guide helps you see where you’re applying it to avoid missing any areas.
Drying Time
I love how quickly this mousse dries.
It dries completely in less than 10 minutes, and I didn’t feel sticky or wet after that.
Smell (Before Application)
Melissa Weinberg Self Tanning Mousse smells funky.
I can’t place my finger on what it smells like, but I guess it kind of smells like chemicals to me.
The chemical scent wasn’t very strong, but nonetheless I could still smell it and wasn’t a fan.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
The chemical scent faded away after a few hours, but it was replaced with a light DHA scent.
This one missed the mark as far as scent goes!
Color Produced
I woke up looking dark and bronzed, but that was short lived.
After I showered, I found out most of the color came from the guide.
I was left with a light to medium shade tan, more on the medium side.
I liked the color a lot; it just wasn’t dark enough for me.
If I applied it one more time I think I’d have a nice, dark tan.
The color was even and streak free, and it was very natural looking….all are big pluses in my book.
How Long It Lasts
My color lasted around 3 days.
As it faded there were a few areas that were a bit speckled and splotchy looking.
OK For Men?
No. It’s cheap, but there are better products out there for your money.
Price
Melissa Weinberg Self Tanning Mousse is $32.95 per bottle. That works out to $7.85 per ounce, which is on the pricier side.
