Overall Opinion:

After many requests, I finally got around to trying the Isle of Paradise Glow Clear Self Tanning Mousse.  Water mousses are a self tanning trend that I’m loving, so I was excited to try!

Unfortunately, this one falls flat in my opinion, so I rank it 1 out of 5 stars.

I tried the dark shade in this mousse, and I found the color to be SO orange and unnatural on me.  I love being dark and brown, but this one is so obvious that the tan isn’t real.

It also stayed sticky on my skin almost ALL night long, which was really annoying.  The smell is very strong; I wish it was lighter and more refreshing.  It resembled a heavy perfume.

The application process was fine, and the price point is also good.  But unfortunately, those two things aren’t enough to redeem this mousse.

So overall, I don’t care for this tanning mousse.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

This Isle of Paradise Mousse is what you’d call a “water mousse”, meaning it looks like water in the bottle.  It comes out of the bottle a white foam; there is no color to it.

Application

Applying this mousse is fairly easy and simple.  You don’t have to worry about a brown color guide getting all over the place, but you DO need to be very careful where you apply it as it’s easy to miss places.

I personally don’t mind that it doesn’t have any immediate color, because I prefer not to wear my self tan out and about until it’s developed and I’ve showered it off.

You definitely need to apply this one with a mitt; it just makes application so much easier and can help you cover more area while protecting your palms.  But other than that, I found this one glides over my skin nicely, and was no issue to blend in.

Drying Time

Isle of Paradise Glow Clear Self Tanning Mousse is SOOO sticky.  I immediately felt tacky and wet all over my body, and I hoped that would quickly go away.  Unfortunately, it didn’t.  It stayed sticky almost the entire night, which was extremely uncomfortable.

Smell (Before Application)

This one has a very strong perfume scent.  I found it to be a little too strong, as it’s a very heavy scent… it’s not really light or refreshing.  It smells more like it’d be a perfume, not a self tanner.  I don’t like very strong scents when it comes to tanners, I prefer light and tropical or fruity.

It also smells a little bit of DHA, which never smells pleasant!

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

The next morning I could still smell DHA, and it was stronger than the night before (unfortunately).  There were also traces of the perfume scent lingering around as well L

Color Produced

I tried the Isle of Paradise Glow Clear Mousse in the Dark shade (as I do with most self tanners).  I prefer to be pretty dark if I’m going to take the time to do my whole tanning routine!

The results I got from this self tanner left a lot to be desired. The color it gave me was definitely a dark shade, but it was very orange and unnatural looking.  I applied to my hands the same as I do every self tanner, and they turned out SO bad.  I’ve attached a photo just to show you how unnatural they look.

I’d be willing to try a lighter shade just to see how that color turns out, but I’m not holding my breath it’ll be more natural looking.

It’s rare I have a self tanner turn me this orange, and unfortunately this one did.

This is definitely not a mousse for those looking for a brown or a natural looking self tan.  The color of this one was a dead giveaway that I used a self tanner.

How Long It Lasts

Darker tans usually last longer on my skin, so I expected this one to last around 5-6 days.  However, around day 2, my tan had already drastically faded and looked terrible!  This one doesn’t fade well at all; it looks so splotchy and uneven.  I’ve attached another photo to show how uneven and dry it made my skin as it faded.

OK For Men?

No, I don’t think men will like the orange color this foam produces.

Price

This Isle of Paradise tanner is a reasonable price point at $29.00 per bottle.  I’d gladly pay that for a good self tanner, however, this is not one I’d pay that again for.
