Overall Opinion:
I have mixed feelings about Get Into The Limelight Dark Chocolate Tanning Mousse. I ended up giving 2.5 out of 5 stars after using it, so it’s a pretty average self tanner.
As for what I like about it, it produces a nice color and is an average price. I got a medium to dark shade tan after one application, which I was pleased about. It looked really natural; I was surprised how much I liked my tan. It’s not the darkest tan out there, but it’s definitely noticeable and a few shades darker.
Now, application is a bit difficult. I found the mousse was really easy to blend into some areas, but other areas it was super difficult to blend in. The area I had the most trouble with was my inner arm; I just couldn’t get the product to stick there!
The smell of this self tanner is terrible; I really don’t like when products have a “chocolate scent”. It ended up smelling like cocoa mixed with DHA. I stunk!
So, the color of this one is really good, but the smell and application are not my favorite. That’s why I consider this an average self tanning product.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Get Into The Limelight Dark Chocolate Tanning Mousse is a brown mousse; the color is not too dark, but not light either. It’s a “middle of the road” brown. But as you apply it to your skin, the guide definitely becomes darker. When you pump it out of the bottle, it has the color of milk chocolate.
The texture of the mousse is very nice; it’s airy and fluffy…. just how I like my mousses!
Application
This one was really weird to apply.
I found that some areas were very easy; the product glided over my skin and soaked in nicely. However, other areas I had to really rub it in, and go back over a few times to ensure I got every inch. So it was really easy to apply to some areas, and quite difficult to apply to others.
One area that I found particularly difficult to apply to was the inside of my arms. I’ve attached a photo to show that the product would NOT stick to that area no matter what. It was weird since I’ve never had that problem before.
I used a mitt as I always do, and it protected my palms.
Drying Time
Get Into The Limelight Dark Chocolate Tanning Mousse was pretty average as far as mousses’ drying times go. It took about 35-40 minutes to dry.
While I waited for it to dry, I had to be very careful so I didn’t get the brown guide on anything.
Smell (Before Application)
Ok guys, I know this product sounds like it’d smell good, but it doesn’t! It smells like cocoa mixed with self tanner and it’s actually quite nauseating. The “chocolate” scent intrigued me, but I realized that chocolate and DHA definitely don’t mix well together!
I really don’t like the smell of this mousse unfortunately!
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
As the product developed, the smell became worse for the first few hours. By the next morning, the smell had dissipated, but only a little bit. I could still smell the gross chocolate DHA smell.
Thankfully, the bad smell went away for the most part after I took a shower.
Color Produced
With this Dark Chocolate Sunless Tanning Mousse, you leave it on for 8-12 hours before washing it off.
I left it on overnight, and once I showered it off the following morning, I had a really nice medium to dark shade tan.
My tan definitely wasn’t the darkest out there, but it was a very nice medium/dark shade and I really liked how it looked. It wasn’t orange; it was a true tan color.
The only place it looked a little bit weird was on the inside of the arms where the product wouldn’t stick no matter what.
Overall, I think the color is really nice and it’ll work well with most skin tones.
How Long It Lasts
This tanner lasted around 5 days on my skin, which isn’t bad! It actually faded pretty nice compared to most mousses too. It wasn’t very splotchy or dry looking.
OK For Men?
Yes, I think men will like the color this one produces; it’s very natural and deep looking. However, they’ll need to get over the tedious application and bad smell first!
Price
Get Into The Limelight Dark Chocolate Tanning Mousse is $39 per bottle, which sounds expensive. But it comes in a large 8 ounce bottle, so it actually works out to be an average price point.
