Overall Opinion:
After tanning with Bronze Babe 1 Hour Express Tanning Mousse, I gave it 1 out of 5 stars.
I personally enjoyed the vanilla, sugar-cookie scent the tanner had, and found that the tan lasted for nearly 5 days, which is pretty impressive.
Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended for me. The tan it produces is so minor that you almost can’t tell you’ve tanned, and it’s pretty difficult to apply, too.
The price tag may be appealing, but I think this is one to pass on, even if you’re looking for a light, natural tan.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Bronze Babe 1 Hour Express Tanning Mousse has a very dark color guide to it. And it’s a pretty unattractive color, too. It has a green undertone to it, and when you apply it, it looks like you’re entering a body building competition.
So this is not one that you could wear out of the house—you’ll need to rinse it off before going anywhere.
The actual mousse is very foamy—so what you would expect from a mousse. I expected the tanner to feel more moisturizing when applying it, since it says it’s a moisturizer too, but that wasn’t the case. It felt like any other tanning mousse.
Application
I thought this tanning mousse was very difficult to apply. I made sure to use a generous amount of product and rub it in with my tanning mitt in circular motions. So I followed the directions exactly as they’re written.
However, whenever I applied product in one area and used circular motions to blend it in, it would take the color away from the areas right next to it. I just couldn’t get the product to stay put and actually stick to my skin.
This resulted in me using a lot more product than I normally would because I had a ton of streaks.
Drying Time
Bronze Babe says you can dress one-minute post-application, but there is no way that’s the case. This was very sticky after I applied it until I washed it off 30 minutes later.
I had to stay in my bikini the entire time it was drying. So like I said regarding the gross color guide, there is really no way you could leave the house before rinsing this product off. You would totally damage your clothes or they’d be clinging to you everywhere.
Smell (Before Application)
This tanning mousse advertises a vanilla scent to it, and that’s exactly what it smelled like.
You could definitely still smell that self-tanner odor in there, but for the most part, I smelled really sweet the entire time I had the mousse on—almost like a sugar cookie.
Once you rinse the product off, the smell obviously goes away, but this was a nice way to smell while waiting to shower off the product!
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
As I stated above, the scent hung around the entire time I left the mousse on. I personally enjoyed it, though, so this was a positive aspect for me with this tanning mousse.
Once I rinsed off in the shower, the scent went away completely, so it doesn’t leave behind any residual odor.
Color Produced
As the instructions stated, I chose to leave Bronze Babe 1 Hour Express Tanning Mousse on for 30 minutes to achieve a medium tan.
Unfortunately, that’s definitely not what I got. I waited closer to 40 minutes, and the tan I achieved was super light. It honestly wasn’t worth the hassle of the difficult application for what the mousse produced.
Maybe if I left it on for longer it would’ve given me a darker tan, but I think the bottle instructions should paint an accurate picture of what you’re going to achieve after a specified length of time.
How Long It Lasts
While I wasn’t impressed with the depth of color I achieved, I was impressed with how long the tan lasted.
I would say for 4 full days, the color remained pretty strong. And in that time, I even soaked in the pool for an hour or two. So the color definitely sticks to your skin for a long time.
OK For Men?
Yes, I think so. You may need to leave it on for longer if you want to see a noticeable difference, but I think men can use it just as easily as women.
Price
In my opinion, Bronze Babe 1 Hour Express Tanning Mousse is reasonably priced. I don’t necessarily think it’s worth the money since it doesn’t produce much of a color difference, though.
However, the tan does stick around for 4-5 days, and you get a generous amount of product, so a single bottle of this tanner would last you a while.
