Overall Opinion:
I’ve never heard of the Coco & Eve brand before, but a few of my followers requested I try their self tanner. And I have to say, I’m glad they did!
After trying out their Bali Bronzing Foam (shade medium), I really like it so I gave it 4.2 out of 5 stars.
For starters, it’s a mousse with a dark brown color guide in it, which actually makes it easy to apply.
The smell is SOO good; it has a tropical mango, guava scent. I love tropical smells, and this one is so girly and sweet! I love it. Unfortunately, the next morning it smelled very strong of DHA.
I tried the medium shade foam, and I left it on overnight. When I showered it off the next morning, I had a medium tan that looked nice, but it wasn’t anything special. I was pleasantly surprised to see that my tan kept darkening even after I showered it off. A day after I showered it off, my tan was a medium to dark shade and it looked very rich and brown. I was very pleased with how it looked; I looked so sunkissed!
I had a few small streaks on my legs, which I found kind of strange, but thankfully they weren’t very noticeable.
Another great thing about this tanner is that it lasted a full week before it faded! That’s a pretty long time as far as self tanners go. It did look kind of splotchy as it faded, however.
So overall, I really enjoyed this self tanner and I would gladly use it again.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Coco & Eve Sunny Honey Bali Bronzing Foam is a mousse that has a very dark brown guide in it.
The mousse is a nice texture; it’s not thin and messy like some. It holds its shape and applies nicely.
Application
I used a tanning mitt to apply this all over my body, and I found it was pretty easy. You do have to be careful while applying it because it has a dark guide, so it can get messy if you’re not careful.
The texture of the mousse is pretty easy to blend in, as you can see the product as you’re applying to your skin.
As always, make sure to apply lotion to all your dry areas before applying.
When I was finished applying, my body looked noticeably darker due to the guide, but it didn’t look streaky which was nice!
Drying Time
Like most mousses, this Coco & Eve mousse took longer than average to dry.
It dried in about 45 minutes to an hour, which definitely isn’t ideal. I felt sticky and tacky while I waited for it to dry; I felt so uncomfortable!
Smell (Before Application)
This mousse smells SOO good. It has a mango and guava scent, and I can’t get enough of it.
It’s fruity, sweet, and very girly.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
By the next morning, my tan definitely didn’t smell as good as the night before. I could really smell the DHA, and could only smell the fruity scent a little bit, unfortunately.
Color Produced
I tried this mousse in the “Medium” shade. They also have a “Dark” and “Ultra Dark” shade.
The directions on this one say you can leave it on for a minimum of 2 hours or overnight for a deeper tan. I left it on overnight (because, DUH I wanted a deeper tan J). After I showered it off the next morning, I had a medium shade tan. It was nice, but nothing too impressive.
Where I was really impressed was the following day, my tan was darker and looked SO good. So my tan continued to develop even after I washed it off. It ended up being a dark tan, and it looked really great.
The only problem was I had a few streaks on my legs that weren’t there when I applied it. So I think this one dried kinda weird and became streaky in a few areas. The streaking was never terribly noticeable, however.
I ended up being really impressed with the color this one produces, especially for this being their “medium” shade.
How Long It Lasts
My tan lasted for a full week before becoming significantly lighter.
As it faded, it became a little splotchy, like some dark self tanners do. I don’t think this is the most moisturizing tanner, unfortunately.
OK For Men?
Yes, I think men will like this one if they’re looking for a medium to dark shade tan!
Price
Coco & Eve Sunny Honey Bali Bronzing Foam is $40 per bottle, which is a little on the pricey side, but not too crazy.
