Overall Opinion:

As you can tell from the star rating, Frēshmē Self Tanning Lotion isn’t a product that worked well for me in achieving a tanner complexion.

While the lotion itself is easy to apply, the consistency of the lotion is strange, and the lack of color guard makes it difficult to ensure application on every surface.

It also comes with an overpowering cookie-like scent, and the big kicker? It didn’t deliver any results.

While the price tag is enticing, there are simply much better, more effective tanning lotions on the market today.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

Even after shaking up Frēshmē Self Tanning Lotion, the consistency of the lotion is super weird. It’s really chunky and separated, which was kind of nasty. I honestly didn’t want to apply it just based on the appearance of it.

It feels like a normal lotion when applied, however. Definitely a thicker body lotion but it feels like lotion nonetheless.

This was also the case once the self-tanner absorbed—it felt just like a lotion does when it dries down on my body, so it was an overall comfortable tanner to wear.

Application

I personally used a tanning mitt to apply this self tanning lotion, but I don’t think that’s necessary. There’s no color guard, and no immediate tan develops, so I don’t think you have to worry about staining your hands.

The lack of color guard made it tricky to ensure I covered every area on my body, but the lotion itself is very easy to apply and rub in.

I was also able to dress very quickly post-application, which made the product easy to use, as well.

One major note—shake the bottle vigorously before opening and applying! I got weird liquid all over my tanning mitt and bathroom sink because the product had separate in the packaging.

Drying Time

The dry time is essentially the same for regular body lotion, so 5 minutes or less.

I chose to wait closer to 10 minutes before dressing just to ensure that I didn’t stain my clothes, but I don’t think that’s necessary looking back.

Smell (Before Application)

I absolutely hate how Frēshmē Self Tanning Lotion smells. It’s the sweetest, strongest sugar cookie smell I’ve ever encountered in a product.

Even if there was a hint of self-tanner in the odor, nothing could compete with this perfume-like fragrance they’ve included in the formula.

Not only is it super strong, but it’s also a very adolescent scent, so I felt embarrassed leaving the house with it on. Yuck!

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

I was worried about the original odor of Frēshmē Self Tanning Lotion, especially since you don’t rinse this lotion off.

Thankfully, after an hour or so, the scent decreases significantly. I didn’t notice an increase in the self-tanner scent either, which is a positive for this tanning lotion.

Color Produced

Frēshmē Self Tanning Lotion says you should see a change in your tan after 1-2 hours post-application, with the color darkening in 24-72 hours.

This wasn’t the case for me with either timeline. My skin tone never became darker after using this self tanner.

And while I could’ve taken the time to apply it again each day after my initial application, I genuinely didn’t want to because of the scent and strange consistency of the lotion itself.

How Long It Lasts

Since I didn’t achieve any tan, I have to say it lasts 0 days.

OK For Men?

No! Aside from the fact that you won’t achieve any tan from using Frēshmē Self Tanning Lotion, it also has an extremely feminine scent that I don’t think many men would feel comfortable sporting.

Price

Frēshmē Self Tanning Lotion is definitely affordable. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean it’s worth the money.

The experience of actually using the tanning lotion, as well as the lack of tan achieve, would result in you throwing away your money, or going through the hassle of getting your money back, in my opinion.
