Overall I gave Australian Gold Self Tanning Lotion 2.5 out of 5 stars.

I really liked the color this lotion produced.

It was extremely natural and even.  It was a medium shade, and I looked like I had been sunbathing for a few hours.

The smell was a mix between a manly body wash or cologne and DHA… I didn’t like it.

I also wish this product would’ve dried faster, it took about 45 minutes which is a long time.

Applying this product was extremely easy, and the texture is SO smooth.

There are definitely some upsides to Australian Gold Self Tanning Lotion, but there are also some negatives.

Overall, I found this to be a pretty average self tanner.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

The Australian Gold Self Tanning Lotion comes out as a smooth, soft lotion.

It’s very light and I really liked the feel of it.

This tanner has a very light guide, it comes out as a light brown, tan color.

The guide is more of a bronzer, as it quickly fades away once you blend it into your skin.

Application

Applying this lotion was pretty simple; it goes on like any lotion would.

The smooth texture makes it easy to blend into your skin.

I loved applying this product, because the product is extremely smooth and feels great going on.

Like I mentioned, there’s a very light guide.  I didn’t use a tanning mitt to apply, but it’s always a good idea to use one just in case.

Because the guide’s not dark, Australian Gold Self Tanning Lotion isn’t very messy.

But there’s still a light color to it, so make sure it doesn’t get anywhere but on your skin.

Drying Time

This self tanner took about 45 minutes to dry completely, which is longer than average.

I expected this product to dry quicker, but was disappointed when it took so long.

It felt pretty wet and stick on my body until it was completely dry.

Smell (Before Application)

Australian Gold Self Tanning Lotion smells kind of like men’s body wash (or maybe cologne?) mixed with DHA.

I wasn’t a fan of the smell, to be honest.

In my opinion the DHA smell was too strong and it smelled too manly.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

The next day I could still faintly smell the DHA scent, but the manly body wash smell was gone (thank goodness).

After I showered the product off, I couldn’t really smell much of everything.

Color Produced

Australian Gold Self Tanning Lotion produced a very nice, smooth medium shade tan.

I was very pleasantly surprised by how natural and even this tan was.

It didn’t streak at all, which was nice.

The color was a lighter-medium shade and it looked like I just spent a few hours in the sun (which I never do anymore, of course!).

I always like my tan to be as dark as possible, but this is one medium-shade tan that I was happy with.

This would be a great self tanner to use during the winter when you are looking to get a few shades darker.

How Long It Lasts

This tanner lasted about 3-4 days, so you will probably have to apply twice a week to maintain a nice tan.

I wish it lasted a little longer, but 3-4 days is about average.

The nice thing is that this product fades very evenly with no streaks.

OK For Men?

I think this would be a good product for men to try!

First, you can’t beat the price, this product is very cheap.

Second, the color is really natural and even, and not too dark.

Third, it seems like the smell is kind of geared towards men in my opinion.

They’ll will have to wait a while for it to dry, which sucks.

But overall, men may love this product!
