Overall Opinion:

Ulta Bronze Glow Self Tanning Tinted Lotion is not my favorite self tanner, so I gave it 2 out of 5 stars.

Everything about this self tanner is okay, except for the color.

I wasn’t a fan of the tan it gave me at all.  The tan was orange and streaky, and stuck to my dry areas no matter what!  This caused my skin to look very patchy.

The smell, price, and drying time are all okay, but unfortunately that’s not enough to make up for the poor color I got.

In this case, I got what I paid for, a cheap self tanner and an orange tan.

Overall this product isn’t even as good as your average self tanner on the market.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

This self tanner is a caramel colored lotion.  The lotion is thick and has a nice, smooth texture. On the bottle, they call it a gel-cream, and I think that’s a very accurate description.  It’s slick like a gel, but thick like a cream.

Although it has some color to it, it doesn’t really act like a color guide when you apply it.  This cream also has a bit of shimmer to it.

Application

Applying Ulta Self Tanning Tinted Lotion is a breeze.

I used a tanning mitt and I literally applied it all over my body in under 10 minutes.  But you do need to be very careful not to miss any spots, because it doesn’t really have a color guide.

You have to wait at least 6 hours to see any color payoff after application.

Drying Time

I found that this lotion dried pretty quickly.

In about 20 minutes, I felt completely dry and was able to put my clothes on and crawl into bed.

The thing I really liked is I didn’t feel sticky or wet while I waited for this one to dry, or after it dried.

Smell (Before Application)

I read a lot of reviews online where people said they couldn’t stand the smell because it was so strong and awful.

I had the exact opposite experience, I actually enjoyed the scent.  To me it smelled fresh, like clean laundry or soap (I guess I’m weird that I like that smell!).

The smell is rather strong, so if you’re sensitive to scents, be careful with this one.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

The strong fresh scent stuck around pretty much all night.

And by the next morning, I could smell some DHA too.  It didn’t smell as pleasant the next morning.

Color Produced

I tried Ulta Bronze Glow Self Tanning Tinted Lotion in the Medium to Deep Shade. On the bottle, it says to apply daily until you reach your desired shade of tan.  After one application, I had a light-medium tan, but I found the color to be on the orange side.  After two applications, I had a medium to dark tan, but it was even more orange then before.

Not only was the color too orange for me, but it was also pretty uneven.  I found that this lotion really clung to my dry areas, making my tan look patchy in areas (especially on my legs).

So for me, this tan was streaky and orange.  I wish it would’ve been more natural looking, but I didn’t find that to be the case unfortunately.

Also, on the bottle it says it provides instant color and shimmer.  It was a little shimmery once applied, but I didn’t notice any instant color from the caramel guide.  It looks like it may show up on your skin, but once you start applying, it just blends into your skin.

How Long It Lasts

My tan lasted 4 days, which is okay for a gradual self tanner.  You’ll need to apply this one like 2 times per week to maintain a tan.

It also faded pretty patchy; the self tanner would not come off my dry areas for the life of me!

OK For Men?

I don’t think men will really like this one, especially since it’s shimmery.

Price

Ulta Bronze Glow Self Tanning Tinted Lotion sells for $9.99 per bottle.  That works out to $1.67 per ounce which is extremely cheap!
