Overall Opinion:

I found Coola Sunless Tan Dry Oil Mist to be a pretty average self tanner, so I gave is 2.75 out of 5 stars.

As far as the positives go, I really enjoyed the smell of this self tanner and also how quickly it dried.

This dry oil also has a lot of good essential oils and extracts in it, and is 70% organic.  It’s vegan, paraben free, and non-GMO which I really like.

The color is okay, not the best and not the worst.  It’s a gradual self tanner, but I found the more often I applied it, the more orange my tan became. So with this one, less is actually more.  But after one application, I had a light to medium tan.  My tan had a few patches, and I think those were from the difficulty I had applying this self tanner.

Which leads me to the next thing I don’t like about it.  Applying Coola Dry Oil is a pain.  The pump becomes hard to use, and the bottle doesn’t work if you flip it upside down, which becomes very inconvenient when applying to your legs, arms, and back.

So overall, this self tanner has its pros and its cons, so I gave it 2.75 out of 5 stars.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

Coola Dry Oil Mist comes out in the form of a pump mist.  It doesn’t have a guide, so it applies clear to your skin.

The mist is very light, but a good amount of it comes out with each spray.  The texture is that of a liquid or water.

Application

Applying this self tanner is a pain in the butt.

First off, the pump doesn’t work if you turn the bottle upside down.  So it was really hard to apply to my legs, arms, and back (basically my whole body).  I usually don’t have that much of a problem applying mists, but this one absolutely sucked.

I applied it in my shower, and I found that a lot of residue fell to the floor.  It was also hard to see where it was on the ground because it had no guide. So I had to wash my whole shower down to make sure I got rid of it all.

My finger also became pretty tired while applying it; it’s not the easiest one to pump out.

Once I had finally finished pumping the product over my whole body, I took a mitt and blended it in.  The nice thing is the mist is fine, so it didn’t really drip down my body and pool up around my ankles, like some of them do.

Drying Time

I was really impressed with the drying time of this dry oil.

It dried in 5-10 minutes, and it made my skin feel velvety smooth after it dried. There was no residual stickiness with this dry oil either.

Smell (Before Application)

I really enjoyed the smell of Cool Sunless Tan Dry Oil Mist.  It’s a very light, fruity smell.

It’s sweet, but not overpowering.  Although it smells really good, I could smell a hint of DHA in it as well.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

As the product developed, I could smell more self tanning smell.  But it never got extremely bad.  I could just smell hints of it.

Color Produced

The bottle says this tan is buildable, so I consider it more of a gradual self tanner.

After one application, I had a light to medium glow that had some patchy spots.

I think the patchy spots were due to the difficulty I had while applying it.  It’s literally impossible to apply to the bottom of your legs because you can’t flip the bottle upside down.

It wasn’t the best looking tan ever, but it also wasn’t the worse.  It helps that the tan was pretty light, so the patchiness wasn’t very noticeable. Although, it was noticeable to me.

In order to achieve a medium to dark tan, you’ll need to do at least two applications.  The only problem is, after two applications, my tan was noticeably orange.  For me, the color just wasn’t really a match for my skin tone. I think this one would be better for those with naturally olive skin tones. I actually like the way my tan looked better after just one application, when it was lighter and less orange.

I didn’t have that bronzey, back from the beach look that I desire from my tanners.

How Long It Lasts

My tan lasted about 2-3 days before it faded.  But I like that this company is realistic… on their bottle, it says your tan should last about 3 days.  They don’t promise 2 weeks like some other brands out there.

So you’ll need to apply this one a few times a week in order to maintain your tan.

OK For Men?

If they’re just looking for a gradual tanner than maybe, but this one is also pretty difficult to apply. So I think they can find self tanners out there that they like better.

Price

This is a huge drawback for this product, it’s VERY expensive.  It’s $46 for 3.4 ounces, which is over $13 per ounce.  For me, I don’t know that the quality of the product justifies the high price tag.
