Overall Opinion:
This product wasn’t our favorite.
As you can tell by the 2 star rating, there were some things we really don’t like about Tanning Bay Moisture Tan.
First, the smell isn’t my favorite, it resembles cardboard. But more importantly, the color is so light you can barely see it.
Most people who use self tanner want to get a few shades darker, this one hardly gets you one shade darker.
The product is very easy to apply, and it moisturizes your skin, but that isn’t enough for me to look past the color.
So overall, I’d say this is more of a “body cream” rather than a self tanner, and I wouldn’t spend $27.95 on it.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Tanning Bay Moisture Tan is a thick, white lotion.
It resembles a heavy body cream.
Application
Applying this product was very simple.
This self tanner is white, so it’s not messy at all.
It’s also very thick, so you don’t have to worry about it spilling or running all over the place.
It takes a few seconds to fully blend into your skin, because the consistency is pretty heavy.
Drying Time
Tanning Bay Moisture Tan took about 15-20 minutes to dry completely.
I expected it to take longer, because it is so thick.
I was pleasantly surprised when it dried in under 20 minutes.
Something I liked is that after it dried my skin felt very soft…I guess it really does moisturize your skin!
Smell (Before Application)
This is another one of those cardboard smelling products.
I really don’t know how else to describe it other than it smells a little musty….not a good smell!
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
Thankfully, the smell faded pretty quickly.
After a few hours I no longer smelled like cardboard, and I couldn’t smell any DHA either.
Color Produced
I was disappointed in the color Tanning Bay Moisture Tan gave me.
It was SO light.
I woke up maybe one shade darker.
On the bottle it says you can use it to deepen your existing tan, so it may be better for that use. It’s definitely not a self tanner I’d use to give me a noticeable tan.
The plus side is that I didn’t get splotchy or streaky.
Although, I’d rather deal with a streak or two than a non existent tan.
Overall, the color was way too light…I almost didn’t notice it at all.
How Long It Lasts
This self tanner faded extremely quick.
The light color it gave me was gone within 2 days.
You’re going to have to apply this one daily if you want to see any color at all.
OK For Men?
No, I’d tell men to save their money.
This is more of a moisturizer than it is a self tan.
The color is way too light for men, or anyone.
Price
The 8 oz bottle sells for $27.95. That works out to $3.49 an ounce, which is a little less than average.
I’d definitely save my money to spend on a self tanner that actually works though.
