My long-awaited review of Tanceuticals Dark Mousse is finally here!  To be honest, I’ve been using this product for years, but I’m just now getting around to writing a review on it.

I have to tell you guys, this mousse is the BOMB.  As you all know, I love Tanceuticals self tanners, and this mousse is no exception.  I don’t know how they do it, but their tanners give me the most natural-looking tans.

So, this mousse is actually very easy to use, as long as you use a mitt to apply it.  I didn’t find it to be messy at all, and the color guide really helped me see where I was blending the product into my skin.

The smell is amazing; it smells like a tropical paradise.  I love the smell of coconut, and that’s the scent all Tanceuticals products have.  I can’t get enough of it!

Now, the color it gives me is amazing.  I use the dark shade and it gives me a really deep, natural tan.  It doesn’t look fake at all, which is exactly what I’m looking for.  I had numerous people ask me how I got so tan!  You really can’t beat the color this one gives.

The only reason I didn’t give this mousse 5 stars, is because Tanceuticals lotions dry a little bit quicker than this one. The mousse takes around 25 minutes to dry, which still isn’t bad compared to most other mousses.

But overall, I absolutely love this mousse and it’s a staple in my self tanning routine :)

Look and Feel

Tanceuticals Self Tanning Mousse in Dark is a really lightweight, airy mousse.  I love the texture as it makes it super easy to apply and blend in.

The color of the mousse is brown, but it’s not as dark as some mousses out there.  The guide color helps me see where I’m applying the tanner to my skin, which is always helpful.

Application

A lot of mousses are difficult and messy to apply, but not Tanceuticals.  I used a mitt during application and found it to be very easy and hassle free.  The mitt protected my hands from getting stained, and the product didn’t get anywhere it’s not supposed to go (ex: my towels, floor, etc).

The guide makes it super easy to know where you’re applying it, and it also blends into my skin like a dream.

As always, just make sure to pay extra attention around your dry areas, such as your knees, elbows and ankles.

Drying Time

Now, we all know mousses don’t dry as quickly as lotions do, which is one small downside for mousses.  But as far as mousses go, this one isn’t too bad.

I felt completely dry after about 25 minutes.  At that point, I felt ok putting on my clothes and getting into bed to let my tan develop!

For those of you who have tried Tanceuticals lotions, this one takes a bit longer to dry, and for that reason alone, I couldn’t give it 5 stars (although it came pretty dang close!).

Smell (Before Application)

OMG, this mousse smells SO good!

It’s literally a tropical heaven.  It smells like fresh coconuts, and it reminds me of being on vacation.

Tanceuticals really nails their scents; I love the way all their products smell!

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

By the next morning, I could only smell a hint of DHA, and I could still smell the tropical coconut scent, which was great!

Color Produced

After showering off the mousse the next morning, I had a deep, gorgeous tan.  I looked like I had just gotten back from a week in Hawaii.  I can’t even tell you guys how many compliments I get on my tan when I wear this mousse.

My tan was a dark shade (probably about 3-4 shades darker than I started), and it was sooo smooth.  No one could tell it was fake!  That’s exactly what I’m looking for in a self tanner.

I think most people who try this mousse will love the tan it produces; it’s a very universal color.

How Long It Lasts

With Tanceuticals Self Tanning Mousse Dark, my tan lasted about 6 days before it faded.  I’m really happy with this, because that means I only need to reapply this one once a week!

It also fades pretty naturally compared to most self tanners.

OK For Men?

Yes, I think this is a great option for men.  I’ve even caught my husband sneaking my bottle every now and then.

It produces a nice, dark tan, smells good, and is easy to use; men will love it!
