Overall Opinion:
I really like Tan Luxe Hydra Mousse, so I gave it 5 out of 5 stars.
This self tanner produces a great color, it’s a medium to dark shade. My tan was sunkissed and very smooth. They also have a lighter shade for those of you looking for a lighter tan.
This mousse has no color guide, which makes it less messy than most mousses to apply. I love that I didn’t need to worry about it staining my bedding or clothing once I applied it. And it’s a good thing it doesn’t stain, because this self tanner felt tacky on my skin for at least a few hours. That’s the one thing I really don’t care for about this self tanner.
It smells nice and perfumey, and it lasted about 5 days on my skin.
It’s very expensive, but in my opinion, Tan Luxe Hydra Mousse is worth it.
So overall, I gave this tanner 5 out of 5 stars after testing it out.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
This mousse is a clear liquid that pumps out as a white foam. It has no color guide at all, which is unusual for a self tanning mousse.
The mousse has a nice texture, it was airy and lightweight.
Application
Applying Tan Luxe Hydra Mousse couldn’t be easier. I love that it doesn’t have a color guide, which makes it so clean and hassle free.
This product comes with a tanning mitt, which is also pretty convenient. I’d definitely recommend using the tanning mitt to apply it, because although it doesn’t have a color guide in it, it can still stain your hands.
I used the mitt to apply it, and it blended into my skin gorgeously. If you’re new to tanning, you may not like that it doesn’t have a color guide because you can’t see where you’re applying it. But for those of you experienced self tanners (like myself), you should be just fine. Just make sure you apply it evenly over your body; you should be able to tell where you’ve applied it because those areas will feel wet.
Make sure you apply lotion to your hands and feet before applying this mousse, as it is on the darker side.
Drying Time
This is the one thing I really disliked about Tan Luxe Hydra Mousse…it took so long to dry and felt really sticky.
My tan took at least a few hours to dry, and I hated how tacky it felt on my skin. Unfortunately, many mousses have that tacky feeling and it’s just the nature of the game.
Smell (Before Application)
The smell is pretty good; it smells like a girly perfume. It’s an overall pretty light smell, but it becomes stronger once you apply it all over your body.
When applying, I didn’t smell any DHA, which is always a plus.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
The next morning I still couldn’t smell much “self tanning” smell, and only hints of the perfume smell.
Color Produced
I used Tan Luxe Hydra Mousse in the medium/dark shade, and that’s exactly what my tan was, medium to dark. I really liked the way my tan looked; I looked like I just spent a few days at the beach.
My tan was very smooth and looked so nice. My tan was dark enough for my liking; I was probably about 4 shades darker. On my skin tone it wasn’t orange, it was nice and brown.
How Long It Lasts
My tan lasted about 5 days before it faded.
As it faded, it didn’t look so pretty, but that’s to be expected with darker self tanners.
OK For Men?
Yes, especially if you’re looking for a mousse without a color guide. It’s not messy at all and produces a great tan.
Price
Tan Luxe Hydra Mousse is not cheap. It sells for $57 bucks per bottle, which is one of the most expensive self tanners on the market.
