Top 10 Ingredients: Water, Dihydroxyacetone, Diethylhexyl Carbonate, Propanediol, Saccharomyces Ferment, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, Trimethylpentanediol/Adipic Acid Copolymer, Ceteareth-25, Glyceryl Stearate, Glyceryl Caprylate
Overall Opinion:
Supergoop! Healthy Glow Sunless Tan is such an interesting concept to me. Why would someone self-tan if they were going to go lay out and therefore need sunscreen?
Despite my confusion about the combination itself, there are nice aspects to this self-tanner. It’s dries quickly, allowing you to move on with your day, and it does develop a light, natural tan after about 12 hours.
However, the lack of color guard and thick formula makes it easy to create a streaky tan, and the tan produced is so light that it’s hard to see the change without the streaks.
Overall, I don’t think this is the best option on the market for a self-tanner or sunscreen.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Supergoop! Healthy Glow Sunless Tan looks like a spray sunscreen. It’s nothing like any other self-tanner I’ve tried before.
It feels more like a lotion when applied—it applies very easily despite how thick the self-tanner is. Once it’s absorbed, it’s still a little sticky, but you can easily dress and go on with your day.
Application
I normally always spray self-tanner into my mitt before applying it, but because Supergoop! Healthy Glow Sunless Tan has a sunscreen-like consistency, I was able to spray it directly onto my body.
Once I sprayed an area of my body, I used my mitt to rub it in. Despite the thickness of the product, it was actually very easy to rub in, which was a nice surprise!
There is no color guard in it. It’s white like sunscreen. However, once you start rubbing it in, the white color disappears completely. This made is difficult to ensure I was covering all areas on my body (which I failed to do, but more on that later).
They instruct to wait at least an hour before getting in water, but I waited a full 24 hours before I showered.
Drying Time
The dry time for Supergoop! Healthy Glow Sunless Tan is about 15-20 minutes. I was pretty sticky that entire time, but after that time passed, I was able to comfortably get dressed!
I like this aspect of the self-tanner because it’s easy to apply and go about your day versus hanging out naked in your bathroom for who knows how long haha.
Smell (Before Application)
Supergoop! Healthy Glow Sunless Tan smells like sunscreen and self-tanner, which isn’t very shocking.
They didn’t include any other scent in the product to mask those scents, so you get exactly what it says on the bottle as far as odor is concerned.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
The sunscreen odor initially smelled goes away after about an hour, but the self-tanner smell remains.
It’s not too overpowering, so it didn’t bother me very much, but the scent is definitely there until you rinse the product off completely.
Color Produced
In all fairness, I really didn’t expect to see any color change from Supergoop! Healthy Glow Sunless Tan. It’s such a bizarre product and unlike any other self-tanner I’ve tried before.
I was pleasantly surprised that I did see a change! It wasn’t until a full 12 hours later, so I wouldn’t listen when the bottle says the color will develop in 2-4 hours.
The tan itself is very light—I actually wouldn’t even notice I had gotten darker if it weren’t for the many streaky areas I failed to cover while using this self-tanner.
Although it’s light, the tan is also natural-looking with no orange undertones, which is a plus!
How Long It Lasts
The light tan I achieved with Supergoop! Healthy Glow Sunless Tan lasted about 2-3 days.
The fading actually made the tan look a little better since I had so many streaks on my body from missed areas. The fading actually evened out the tan haha.
OK For Men?
No, it’s just a weird product in general.
Price
Supergoop! Healthy Glow Sunless Tan is pretty expensive for a self-tanner, and pretty expensive for a sunscreen.
I don’t think it’s worth the money. The results aren’t stellar, and the combination of self-tanner and sunscreen doesn’t really make sense to me.
