Overall Opinion:

Overall, I’m pretty surprised by this self tanning lotion.

I didn’t expect to like it, as it just seems cheap to me.  But I do like it, just because it produces a nice, medium tan.

The color I got is very middle of the road… not too light, not too dark.  It’s perfect for those who want a winter tan, but don’t want to look so dark it looks fake.  My tan was even and smooth.

Now, it’s not all positive with this self tanner.  It smells pretty bad.  It has a sour DHA scent that’s pretty overwhelming.  Thankfully, by the next morning, the smell mostly went away.

The price is good, and application is easy enough.

So overall, I gave this self tanner 3.75 out of 5 stars.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

This self tanner is in the form of a thick, white cream.  It very much resembles a body butter, and it doesn’t have any color guide to it.

Application

Applying this lotion is pretty easy and simple, although it does take a little elbow grease to rub in.

It’s white in color, but when I rubbed it into my skin, it left a white cast (like sunscreen does).  I had to blend it for a few minutes until that went away.

Other than that, it’s pretty hassle free.  You can use a tanning mitt or forego it.  I chose to use a tanning mitt because it’s always better to be safe than sorry!

I did find that I used a lot of the product on just one application, so the 4 ounce bottle won’t last you very long.

Drying Time

My skin felt dry enough in about 20 minutes.

Until it dried, my skin felt tacky, but I didn’t need to worry about a dark guide staining anything I touched (which is always a plus!).

Smell (Before Application)

I don’t care for the way this self tanner smells.

I’ve actually tried quite a few self tanners that have the same scent.

It smells sour mixed with fragrance.  I don’t know if it’s the way the DHA interacts with the fragrance or what, but it doesn’t smell good.

I could definitely smell some DHA in the product too.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

The next day I smelled a tiny bit of DHA, but to my surprise, most of the bad smell had dissipated.

Color Produced

This is the highlight of the product.  To be honest, I didn’t expect to like this self tanner; it just looks kind of cheap to me.

But I was proven wrong, because I’m actually pretty impressed by the color this one produces.

It gave me a medium to dark tan that looked really natural.  I loved the way my tan looked; I looked tanned and toned, like I just got back from vacation.

I had a few small streaky areas on my arms, but they weren’t really noticeable to anyone but me.

This color isn’t the darkest out there, but it definitely is a nice middle of the road tan.

How Long It Lasts

I found my tan lasted about 4-5 days, which isn’t too bad.

It didn’t get streaky or patchy as it faded either, which is a bonus.

OK For Men?

Yes, I think men will like this one.  It produces a nice color and is easy to use.  But it stinks and one bottle will only get you about 2 tans.

Sun Kissed Tanning Lotion is $13.50 per bottle, which is extremely cheap.  But the 4-ounce bottle won’t last you very long.  The product is thick, so you use a lot with each application.
