Top 10 Ingredients: Aloe In Purified Water, Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), Isopropyl Palmitate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Erythrulose, Propylene Glycol, Cetryl Alcohol, Steareth-20, Firmaderm, Steareth-10, Dimethicone
Overall Opinion:
South Seas does all of the spray tans for the cast of Dancing With The Stars, so I was really excited to try their at home self tanner.
I was expecting South Seas Tahitian Glow Self Tanner to give a deep tan (like you see on Dancing With The Stars), but was I wrong.
The color I got with this one was a light to medium shade (more on the light side) and it made me look all scaly!
As it faded it became pretty splotchy, I was a little embarrassed with how I looked.
I did love the scent of this product, it smells very sweet and like melons…yum.
Application was simple enough, and I didn’t have to worry about a dark guide.
But in my opinion the color wasn’t worth it.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
South Seas Tahitian Glow Self Tanner feels like a very slick, gel-like lotion.
I really liked the texture of this one, it was thin and smooth.
I’m not sure whether it’s supposed to be a gel or a lotion, it seems kind of like a hybrid to me.
There’s no guide in this one, it comes out white.
Application
This self tanner is pretty easy to apply.
It glides onto your skin very smoothly due to its slick texture.
There’s no real mess when you apply it, and I loved how soft it felt on my skin.
You don’t have to worry about a guide getting all over the place which was good.
Drying Time
South Seas Tahitian Glow Self Tanner took about 30 minutes to dry, which is a little longer than average.
I felt a little sticky while I was waiting for the product to dry, but it wasn’t too bad.
I didn’t have to worry about the product getting all over or staining my furniture/clothing while I waited for it to dry.
Smell (Before Application)
I really loved the smell of South Seas Tahitian Glow Self Tanner.
It smells very sweet, and kind of like melons.
I couldn’t get enough of it, I wish I had a perfume that smelled like that.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
The smell was unfortunately gone the next morning :( Boo.
But the good part was I never smelled any DHA.
Color Produced
I expected this tanner to be darker than it was.
I woke up with a light to medium tan.
I would’ve liked to be at least one or two shades darker.
Another thing I didn’t like about the color was I looked very scaly.
I could live with a light shade tan if it looks smooth and natural, but this one didn’t at all.
How Long It Lasts
This one faded quickly over a span of 3 days.
As it faded my skin began to look more and more alligator-like.
It wasn’t a pretty sight!
OK For Men?
No, this one smells great and application is easy, but men won’t be happy with the color it produces.
Price
South Seas Tahitian Glow Self Tanner sells for $18.00 for an 8 Oz bottle.
That works out to $2.25 an ounce which is pretty average.
