Top Ingredients: Aqua (Distilled Water), Dihydroxyacetone, Propylene Glycol Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Phenoxyethanol, Glycerin (Plant Derived 99% Kosher), MX-485 (Propietary FD&C pigment blend), Dimethylisosorbide (DMI), Polysorbate 80, Organic Emblica Officinalis (Indian Gooseberry)
Overall Opinion:
I gave Skinerals Organic Self Tanner 2 out of 5 stars, so I found it to be a subpar self tanner
The only two things I like about this self tanner is how quickly it dried, and how it smells.
The color it produces is SO light and very streaky and uneven. It’s also difficult to apply due to the guide not blending it. I looked like a splotchy mess after I applied it.
My tan only lasted 2 days before fading.
So overall, this self tanner has 2 really good qualities, but those weren’t enough to outweigh the bad unfortunately.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Skinerals Organic Self Tanner is a light, foamy, airy mousse.
The texture is very fluffy and it has a brown guide in it. The guide is pretty dark, and you can really see it on your skin as you’re applying it.
Application
Applying is okay, but by the end I looked like a freak. I was SO streaky and splotchy from the guide; I had a bit of difficulty getting it to look even on my skin.
I used a tanning mitt, and I highly recommend you do too while applying this one.
The product rubs in nicely, but the guide is really hard to blend in, hence my streaky appearance.
And despite the fact that I used a tanning mitt, some product still wound up staining my palms L
Drying Time
The drying time for this self tanner is great! It dried in less than 10 minutes and my skin felt fantastic after it dried.
I didn’t feel sticky or like I had just applied self tanner at all.
Smell (Before Application)
Omg, this one smells soooo good.
It has a very different smell as far as self tanners go. It smells like fresh apples to me. You know those apple Christmas candles you buy every year? That’s exactly what this self tanner smells like. I loved it.
The apple scent did a very good job covering up DHA smell.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
Unfortunately, the next morning the apple scent was gone and in its place was a light DHA smell. It really didn’t bother me though, because it wasn’t very strong.
Color Produced
I wasn’t really a fan of how my tan looked after using Skinerals Organic Self Tanner.
I had a light tan, and it was splotchy and streaky. I think that has to do with the guide being so difficult to blend it.
Some areas of my body were also darker than others, but overall I had a pretty light tan.
The color this one produces, is more like a gradual self tanner. I really wasn’t happy with the color, and wish it were darker and more even. It wasn’t natural looking either.
If you have VERY fair skin, you may like this color, but it still is very streaky, so you’ll have to apply it very carefully.
How Long It Lasts
My tan lasted about 2 days, before fading pretty unevenly L
OK For Men?
No. I think the color is very subpar.
Price
Skinerals Organic Self Tanner is $21.99 for 8 ounces. That’s $2.75 per ounce which is less than average, but you kind of get what you pay for.
