Top 10 Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Dihydroxyacetone, Stearyl Alcohol, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Dimethicone, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch
Overall Opinion:
I gave Sephora Gradual Self Tanning Body Lotion 2.75 out of 5 stars, so it was pretty average.
This one comes out with a slight shimmer to it, which I liked, but men definitely won’t.
I also liked that it only took 15-20 minutes to dry, and there’s no dark guide you have to worry about.
It smelled decent, but I could still smell a little DHA, especially when I woke up the next morning.
I got a light to medium shade tan after 3 days of applying it. The color was too light for my liking, but it was a nice shade. I just think it’s a lot of work to apply a self tanner almost daily.
Some areas of my body ended up looking very streaky and uneven, which pretty rarely happens with gradual tanners.
Overall, this one is pretty average…I definitely think there are better gradual tanners out there.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
This gradual tanner is a slick, white lotion with a shimmer in it.
You can tell the product is geared towards women due to the shimmer in it.
The lotion is thick and smooth; it feels a bit like sunscreen.
Application
Applying this lotion is very easy and clean.
It goes on like your average body moisturizer would, and you don’t have to worry about a dark guide getting everywhere.
You can use a tanning mitt if you’d like to, but with this one it isn’t absolutely necessary.
It comes out white so you don’t need to worry about it staining your palms, as long as you wash them immediately afterwards.
Drying Time
Sephora Gradual Self Tanning Body Lotion took about 15 to 20 minutes to completely dry.
That’s not too bad as far as drying times go, I’ve definitely seen longer.
Smell (Before Application)
I’m up in the air as to whether I like the smell of this one or not.
You can definitely smell DHA, but you can also smell some fragrance, which smelled nice.
So it’s not a great smelling product, but it’s not the worst either.
It kind of smells like sunscreen a bit.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
The next morning I could smell more DHA than fragrance.
I didn’t like how it smelled after it developed.
Color Produced
This is a gradual tanner so you’re directed to apply it a few days in a row.
I applied it 3 days in a row and got a light, medium shade tan.
The color was a bit uneven in some places, which is odd for a gradual tanner.
The color was nice and natural looking, besides the areas where it turned out splotchy.
In my opinion the color wasn’t dark enough, but then again, I like to be super dark J
How Long It Lasts
Surprisingly this one lasted about 3-4 days, which is longer than most gradual tanners last.
I was happy that I didn’t have to maintain my tan by reapplying it everyday.
Unfortunately, it faded a bit splotchy and uneven.
OK For Men?
I don’t think men will like this one.
It has shimmer in it so it’s more geared towards women.
Also, gradual tanners are a lot of work, as you have to apply them daily. In my experience, a lot of men don’t have the patience for this!
Price
Sephora Gradual Self Tanning Body Lotion retails for $16.00 for a 6.76 ounce bottle.
That’s really cheap and works out to $2.37 per ounce.
