Overall Opinion:
I recently tried out Mine Tan Workout Ready Mousse and was super excited to try it. I work out 4-5 days a week, so I’m the perfect candidate to test this “Workout Ready” product.
They claim this tan won’t sweat off. First off, it does come off very easily, and second, does that mean their other formulas WILL sweat off? I’m confused.
But anyways, I have to say I’m very let down by this product. I accidentally fell asleep with the product on, so you’d think I’d have a very dark tan…. that was not the case. I had a very light to medium tan; it was SO pale of a tan. I didn’t look bronze or sunkissed at all, which is the look I’m going for when using self tanners.
I can’t even imagine how light the color would be if I left it on for only an hour!
It also is sticky and doesn’t smell good.
So overall, I’m not a fan of this Mine Tan product and I give it 1 out of 5 stars.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
This Mine Tan mousse looks the same as all their other mousses, it’s fluffy and dark brown. The guide is VERY dark. The mousse is a nice texture though.
Application
Due to the color guide being such a dark brown color, it can be messy to apply if you’re not careful.
I highly recommend applying with a tanning mitt (like I always do).
Other than the dark guide, it’s pretty simple to apply; it goes on like your average tanning mousse. It blends into my skin pretty nicely, and I don’t need to work overly hard to rub it in.
The guide helps show me where I’ve applied the product, which is always nice. The foam isn’t too thick or too thin, so I didn’t have any issues with the texture of it either.
Drying Time
Like most mousses, Mine Tan Workout Ready stayed very sticky for a long time. It didn’t dry for over an hour, and it felt SO tacky on my skin while I waited for it to dry. It was extremely uncomfortable to have on my skin, even if only for an hour or two.
Smell (Before Application)
Mine Tan Workout Ready Mousse smells so bad. It smells like old spray tans used to smell…. like pure DHA. As you all know, DHA (aka self tanning smell), isn’t pleasant, and most companies try to cover it up with a scent. I couldn’t smell any fragrance in this foam, it just smelled really bad.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
After it developed, it still stunk! I couldn’t wait to shower and get the DHA smell off my body.
Color Produced
Like all Mine Tan mousses, this is a 1 Hour Express Tan. So you leave it on for 1 hour for a light tan, 2 for a medium tan, and 3 hours for a dark tan.
I had planned to leave this on for 3 hours, but I accidentally fell asleep…. oops. So I ended up leaving this tanner on for 8 hours overnight. You’d think that’d make my tan look extra dark, right? Wrong!
After leaving the tanner on all night, then showering the next morning, I still only had a light to medium shade tan! I was so disappointed. It looked more like a gradual tan and wasn’t a deep bronze color at all.
I was really let down by how light my tan was with this Workout Ready Mousse.
How Long It Lasts
My tan only lasted 1-2 days before it was gone.
Mine Tan claims this tan will last/stay through your workouts, but it definitely didn’t for me. I’ve had regular tanners hold up a lot better than this one. Also, are they saying their other tanners won’t hold up during your workouts? Hmmmm.
OK For Men?
No, the color payoff just isn’t there for this self tanner. I was very disappointed in my tan.
Price
Mine Tan Workout Ready is $35.00, which I definitely won’t be paying again for this product.
