Overall Opinion:
Overall, I gave Mary Kay Subtle Tanning Lotion 3.25 out of 5 starts…so it wasn’t bad.
I actually liked this gradual tanner, it gave me a beautiful looking tan.
The smell is ok, it smells fruity, but you can also smell a hint of DHA in there.
The price is pretty average, I think this is a good deal for this product.
I didn’t really expect to like this product, because gradual tanners aren’t my favorite.
But I was pleasantly surprised with the color this one produced.
I had a nice medium tan after applying it for 3 days. Actually after only one application I had a natural light to medium shade tan.
The thing I didn’t like about this one is that it faded pretty quickly, and I became streaky as it faded.
I had to exfoliate the rest of my tan off because it was so uneven.
But overall this is a good gradual tanner.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Mary Kay Subtle Tanning Lotion comes out a white, creamy lotion.
It reminds me a lot of sunscreen in the way it looks and feels.
Application
This one is really simple and easy to apply.
It blended nicely into my skin, and I didn’t have to worry about a dark guide.
I didn’t wear gloves and my hands were fine, just make sure you wash them after application.
This one goes on just like a body moisturizer would.
Drying Time
This one was about average as far as drying time goes.
It dried in about 25-30 minutes.
I didn’t feel sticky or wet while it dried, which I liked. My skin actually felt pretty smooth as I waited for it to dry.
Smell (Before Application)
The website says this one has a coconut/honeysuckle fragrance. I could smell those scents in there, but I could also smell DHA.
If I didn’t smell the hints of DHA, I think this product would smell really good.
It didn’t smell bad, but I just didn’t like the hints of DHA that I smelled.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
The next morning I couldn’t really smell anything, just maybe a very light citrus smell.
After I showered, I definitely couldn’t smell anything at all.
Color Produced
Since this is a gradual tanner, I didn’t expect to wake up super dark.
When I woke up, I had a nice light to medium tan after only one application.
After 2 more applications I ended up with a nice medium tan… I was very pleased with the color.
The color was natural and even, and it looked very smooth.
I’m sure you could make the tan even darker by applying a few more days in a row.
How Long It Lasts
This is where Mary Kay Subtle Tanning Lotion fell short.
After about two day my tan was already fading, and I looked pretty splotchy.
Usually gradual tanners don’t get scaly or uneven when they fade, but this one did.
I didn’t like how weird my tan looked as it faded.
OK For Men?
Yeah, I think men will like this one.
It doesn’t smell to bad, and is a pretty affordable price.
It gives really nice color for a gradual tanner and is very easy to apply.
Just beware that you may look a little funky as it fades.
Price
Mary Kay Subtle Tanning Lotion has a pretty average price point.
The bottle is $17.00 for 4 ounces, which works out to $4.25 an ounce, not too bad if you ask me!
