Overall Opinion:

The first day I tried Madame La La Tan I loved my tan; I was prepared to rank it a lot higher than I did.  Unfortunately, by the second day, my tan had completely changed into a very unnatural, orange color that was dry and patchy looking.  I haven’t really had this happen much where the color completely changes, so it was an odd phenomenon.

I like the easy application, the smell, and the drying time isn’t bad either.  But unfortunately, my tan just looked too fake beyond the first day.  It’s too bad, I wish it stayed dark and natural looking like the first day I had it on!

So, I ended up finding Madame La La Tan to be very average, and I give it 2.5 out of 5 stars.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

Madama La La Tan is a mousse, with a dark brown color guide.  The guide is a little green, some of it dried on the outside of the cap and it’s definitely green.  But when you’re applying it to the skin, it has a very dark brown appearance (almost orangey).

The mousse has a good texture, not too thick, not too thin.

Application

I found that this one went on my skin smoothly, and it also blended in nice.  The guide is extremely dark when applying it and can get very messy if you aren’t careful.  For this reason, I recommend using a mitt or gloves when you apply it.

This one applies very similarly to a lot of mousses out there that have brown guides.  Nothing really stood out too much as far as application goes.

Drying Time

This one dried a little bit faster than most mousses.  It took about 25 minutes to dry, while most mousses take around 40.

As it dried, my skin felt rather tacky, but I’ve kind of come to expect that with mousses.  It doesn’t mean I like it though!

Smell (Before Application)

Madame La La Tan smells pretty good.  It has a rich coconut smell that I love, but I could also smell hints of something I don’t love.  It had a slightly sour undertone, which I’m guessing comes from the DHA in here.

Nonetheless, it smells better than most self tanners.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

By the next morning, I could still smell some coconut flavor, but I also smelled the DHA much more than the night before.

It definitely doesn’t smell as pleasant after your tan develops.

Color Produced

This tan is very confusing as far as how to use it goes.  The bottle says to leave the tanner on for at least 10 hours before washing it off (which is what I did).  But on the Madame La La website, it says your tan will develop in 3 hours, so I’m very confused.

I tried this in their Original (regular) shade; they also have a light version.

Anyways, I left the tan on overnight and showered it off the next morning.  After I showered it off, I was left with an amazing tan!  It was so dark and brown looking, I looked deeply sun kissed.

However, this dark, natural color didn’t last very long. By the following day, my tan looked SO fake.  It was orange, splotchy, and pretty bad looking.

The areas on the insides of my elbows looked so splotchy and gross.  The color also completely changed from when I first showered it off.  It was fake and orange looking, whereas it was originally brown.

My tan ended up looking very fake and unrealistic.  This tanner is a very dark one, so I wouldn’t recommend it for those of you with especially pale skin.

I also noticed this one clogged my pores and gave me some body breakouts which is very unfortunate.  It also really sticks to your dry areas, more than most self tanners.

I wish the color would’ve stayed like it did that first day, because it was a great, dark color!

How Long It Lasts

My tan lasted about 6 days, but It didn’t look good the full time.

Like I mentioned above, the day after I washed it off, the color completely changed and became unnatural.

OK For Men?

No, I don’t think men will like the color beyond the first day.
