Overall Opinion:
I heard about Lux Unfiltered Nº32 Self Tanning Cream on Instagram as it was created by an Instagram blogger, Sivan Ayla. I’m glad I got my hands on some before it sold out!
So after testing out Lux Unfiltered Self Tanning Cream, I give it 3 out of 5 stars. As far as gradual self tanners go, I think it’s one of the better ones out there. But I still prefer to get dark after one application. I’ve never been a fan of gradual tanners that you need to reapply often in order to stay tan.
I really love the color it produces. After one application, I had a light to medium shade tan that was really natural and smooth looking. After I applied a second time, my tan didn’t deepen much, but it still looked great. It’s definitely not a “dark” color; it’s more of an all over glow. It just makes your skin look like it has a healthy glow, which we all need in the wintertime!
It’s an average price point, so I like that it’s not overly expensive. It’s also very easy to apply, just be careful when you apply because you can’t see it going on!
There are also a lot of good ingredients in this tanner that are beneficial for your skin, so it’s got that going for it too.
Now, I really don’t care for the smell, as I’m not a fan of rose or floral scents. Not to mention, it smells SO strongly of self tanner the morning after you apply. I couldn’t wait to shower and get that smell off.
But overall, I think this is better than your average self tanner so I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Lux Unfiltered is a thick, white cream. There’s no color guide to see where you’re applying the product. It looks a lot like a body moisturizer and feels like one too.
Application
This gradual self tanner is really easy to apply, but since it’s pretty thick, you need a little elbow grease to blend it in. Also, since the lotion is white, you have to be careful not to miss any areas while applying it. I actually missed a small area on the back on my knee, but it was user error.
I applied it without a tanning mitt and washed my hands thoroughly after application. My hands didn’t turn orange, but there were a few spots that looked weird, so I’d recommend using a mitt just to be on the safe side.
Drying Time
After applying, it took about 25 minutes to dry completely. This isn’t too bad; I actually thought it’d be worse because of how thick the product is. It was sticky as I waited for it to dry, but thankfully it doesn’t take that long.
Smell (Before Application)
I personally am not a fan of the smell; it smells like roses. Sometimes I’d smell it and the rose scent smelled like alcohol to me, which is weird.
As you guys know, I prefer tropical and fruity scents. I’ve never cared for rose scented products. But if you like rose, then you’ll like the smell of this one!
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
The next morning, my skin stunk soooo bad. I went out to run a few errands before I washed it off and I was actually worried that others could smell me. It has that typical self tanner scent after it develops, and it’s very strong.
Color Produced
Lux Unfiltered Nº32 Self Tanning Cream is a gradual self tanner so I wasn’t expecting much after my first application. I was pleasantly surprised after my first application… I had a light to medium glow that looked so natural. After my second application, my tan didn’t get much darker, but I was really happy with how my tan looked.
I ended up with a light to medium tan that is sooo smooth. The color isn’t orange at all, it’s more of a light brown color that looked sun kissed.
Now, you guys know I’m not usually a fan of gradual tanners, I prefer to be dark after one application. But, as far as gradual self tanners go, I think the color this one produces is very nice!
How Long It Lasts
My tan lasted around 4 days before it faded. You’ll need to reapply this one 2-3 times per week to maintain your tan.
OK For Men?
Yes, if men are looking for a gradual tanner, I think this is a good option. If they’re looking for a dark tanner, I would look elsewhere.
Price
Lux Unfiltered self tanner is $32.00 per bottle, which comes out to $4.70 per ounce. This is an average price point, so I don’t have a problem with the price at all.
