Overall Opinion:
Fake Bake Flawless Coconut Tanning Serum has a lot of good things going for it. There were just one or two things I didn’t like. So I gave it 3.5 out of 5 stars after testing it out.
I really liked the final color it produced. It was dark and natural looking (albeit a few streaks). This one has red undertones, but they aren’t overpowering. I think the red undertones helped it look very natural and dark on my skin tone.
I also really like the scent of this one. It smells like sweet coconuts, you can’t beat it! There was a little bit of DHA smell too, but it wasn’t bad.
The drying time and price are pretty average, but I don’t like how messy this one is to apply. I got a few drops on my floor and it became pretty messy.
But overall, this is better than your average self tanner.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
This product is called a serum, but it more closely resembles a slick lotion.
It’s silky and kind of thick feeling. The color is a dark brown with red undertones.
Application
Fake Bake Flawless Coconut Tanning Serum comes with two black latex gloves, and I wouldn’t apply it without using them.
The product is very dark and it’ll get all over if you don’t use gloves or a mitt.
Other than that, application was pretty easy (as long as you’re VERY careful). The product seemed to just glide over my skin. It took a bit of elbow grease to blend the product in, but nothing too crazy.
The consistency of the product is pretty slick, so I got a few drops on my floor, which made it messy.
Drying Time
Fake Bake Flawless Coconut Tanning Serum was average as far as drying time goes. It took about 25 minutes to dry. After that I still felt a little sticky.
With this one, you need to be really careful not to touch anything as the product dries, it’ll definitely stain!
Smell (Before Application)
Overall, this one smells pretty good.
It smells like sweet coconut, which I love. But I could still smell DHA with this one, which was a bummer.
But I’d say it smells better than most self tanners out there.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
By the next morning I could smell more DHA, but the sweet tropical smell did a pretty good job covering it up.
Color Produced
I was very pleased with the tan this one produced. I had a dark shade tan that was pretty natural looking. I had a few streaks on my body, but they were small, and sometimes that can happen with darker self tanners.
The color was a little bit red, but on me it looked very natural. You can see as the guide washes off in the shower that this one has red undertones.
This color may be too dark on some of you, but I was very happy with my dark tan!
How Long It Lasts
Fake Bake Flawless Coconut Tanning Serum lasted about 5 days on my skin. That’s pretty good compared to most self tanners. It faded very naturally too, I didn’t have any streaks.
OK For Men?
Yes, I think men may like this one.
Price
A bottle of Fake Bake Flawless Coconut Tanning Serum sells for $31.00. That works out to $6.20 per ounce, which is a little higher than average, but not too bad for this self tanner.
