Top 10 Ingredients: Aqua (Water/Eau), Dihdroxyacetone (DHA), Alcohol, Diethylene Glycol Monoethyl Ether, Caramel, Aloe Barbandensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Extract, Sclerocarya Birrea (Marula) Seed Oil, Panthenol (Vit B5), L-Ascorbic Acid (Vit C), Tocopherol (Vit E)
Overall Opinion:
Unfortunately, my experience with this self tanner wasn’t the best.
I prefer the Dancing With The Stars Mousse over this Spray. The spray is hard to use, and not to mention messy. It gets all over the place, and I winded up needing to blend the product in with a tanning mitt.
The color this one produces also leaves a lot to be desired. I got a light tan after one application. So if you’d like to be darker, you’ll need to apply multiple days in a row.
My tan wasn’t very natural looking, it was a yellow shade, and it faded unevenly.
I think many of you will have a hard time using this one, and be underwhelmed by the results, like I was.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Dancing With The Stars Self Tanning Spray is an aerosol spray with a dark brown guide. The guide is a little on the pink/reddish side.
The spray comes out pretty strong, so make sure to follow the instructions and hold it 10-12 inches away during application.
Application
I found this spray really messy to apply.
First, when I sprayed it onto my skin, it created dark circles where I’d spray. I may have gotten a little too close or something, but I had to go back and blend them in with a tanning mitt.
The spray doesn’t really apply evenly, so even when I held the bottle 12 inches away, I had to blend in with a mitt. Also, when I’d hold it 12 inches away, the spray was so light on my skin, it was like all the product was falling to the ground and not even getting to my skin. So it was uneven when I’d hold it close, and uneven when I held it further away, you just can’t win with this one.
The product itself is a dark brown color, and it got all over the floor in my shower. So I’d recommend standing on an old towel to catch the residue that falls.
Drying Time
Once I applied the product to my skin, it felt sticky for about 20-30 minutes before it dried.
Smell (Before Application)
This spray smells exactly like a spray tan. It’s made by Norvell who also makes a spray tan solution, so it makes sense.
It smells sweet like cherries mixed with DHA. It isn’t the worst smelling product out there, but also not the best.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
By the next morning, I could really smell the DHA.
It was so strong that I showered as soon as I woke up.
The DHA scent went away once I showered.
Color Produced
I’m not impressed by the color this one produces. Most of the color comes off in the shower, which shows it’s just from the bronzer in it.
After I showered, I was left with a light tan, it was hardly noticeable. When it comes to the Dancing With The Stars self tanners, I definitely prefer the color the mousse produces over this spray.
The light tan I had was a little yellowy, and I didn’t look sun kissed or bronzed at all. I also noticed I had a few streaks, which I think came from difficulty applying it.
How Long It Lasts
This self tanner claims to last 5-7 days, but in reality it lasts about 3 days.
As it faded, my skin felt and looked dry.
OK For Men?
Nope, I’d skip this one if I were you.
Price
The price of this self tanning spray is $32.99, which is way too expensive for this product.
I’d gladly pay that price for a good self tanner, but not for this spray.
