Overall Opinion:
I think gradual tanners can be a lot of work to begin with, so when I don’t receive a decent tan I think it’s a waste of time.
That’s how I feel about the Coppertone Gradual Tan.
It smells good and the price is very reasonable, but the color just isn’t up to par for me.
The color was so light it’s almost not there at all.
After using this product for 3 days, I was maybe one shade darker… talk about disappointing!
The smell is nice and perfume-like, but it may be a little too strong (or old-ladyish) for some of you out there.
You’ll have to reapply this self tanner every day to maintain your color, and to me that’s more work than it’s worth.
As far as gradual self tanners go, I think there are better ones out there for around the same price.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Coppertone Gradual Tan comes out as a smooth, white lotion.
There’s no guide in this one, it’s white as can be.
The texture of the lotion is very smooth and creamy.
Application
Application was very simple.
Since the product is white you don’t have to worry about it staining anything.
But it does take longer than average to blend the product into your skin due to its texture.
This one goes on like your daily moisturizer.
Drying Time
This one was pretty average, it took about 25 minutes to dry completely.
It was nice that I didn’t have to worry about it staining anything while I waited for it to dry.
It felt a little sticky on my skin while it dried.
Smell (Before Application)
Coppertone Gradual Tan smells very strongly of perfume.
It smells good, but it may be a little strong for some of you out there.
I like the smell, but at times it smells a little like old lady perfume to me.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
When I woke up I could still smell perfume.
I was pleasantly surprised, I never smelled DHA with this product!
Color Produced
The color produced is where this self tanner fell flat.
It’s a gradual self tanner, you have to apply it numerous days in a row to achieve your desired color.
After 3 days of applying it, I barely had any tan at all.
I was probably 1 shade darker after applying it for a few days.
No wonder I couldn’t smell any DHA with this product, I don’t even know if they have any DHA in it!
I was very disappointed with how much effort it took to get just one shade darker.
The tan I got with this one was so light, so it didn’t have any streaks or splotchiness.
How Long It Lasts
Well, given that the color is virtually nonexistent, I think this one lasts only a day before fading.
You’ll have to apply this one literally everyday to maintain any color at all…its SO light!
OK For Men?
No, this one gives you little to no color.
If you’re looking for a gradual tanner, there are ones that will give you better color.
Price
Coppertone Gradual Tan was only $0.85 per ounce!
That’s super cheap, and explains why the quality of the color produced was so low.
