Overall Opinion:

I’ve heard a lot about the Cocoa Brown brand, and I’ve actually been wanting to try their self tanners for a while now.

It’s been difficult finding a way to get it here in the USA, as they are based in Ireland.

So once I found a website that could ship Cocoa Brown to the USA I was so excited.

I ended up really liking this gradual tanner, besides a few small things.

First, you can’t beat the price.  At only $9.94 for a 7 ounce tube, that’s very cheap!

Second, the smell is SO amazing, it smells fruity and delicious.  I couldn’t smell any DHA at all.

And third, the color it produces was really good for a gradual tanner.  As you all know, I’m not a big fan of gradual tanners.  But as far as gradual tanners go, this one is good.  The color was so natural and even, it was a light- medium shade.  I would’ve liked it to have been a little darker, but most gradual tanners don’t get too dark.

Unfortunately, my tan was gone after 3 days, so you’ll have to apply this one every other day or so.

Also, I didn’t like that it had a guide.  I’m used to gradual tanners having no guide, and being very clean and easy to apply.

But overall, this is definitely one of the best gradual tanners I’ve tried.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

I was really surprised to find out this gradual tanner has a light guide in it.

Most gradual tanners don’t have guides.  This guide is a medium brown color.

It’s not as dark as most guides, but you can definitely tell it’s there.

This lotion is very smooth and thin.  I like the texture, it feels nice and blends into your skin easily.

Application

Applying Cocoa Brown Gentle Bronze wasn’t as clean as applying most gradual tanners.

This one has a light guide, so make sure you don’t get it on anything.  It’s not super dark, but you still have to be very careful with it.

The lotion goes on pretty easily, you don’t need to use a tanning mitt.

Drying Time

This one dried in average time.

I’d say it took about 20-25 minutes to completely dry, which isn’t too bad.

Make sure not to put your clothes on until it’s completely dry so the guide doesn’t stain them.

Smell (Before Application)

Cocoa Brown Gentle Bronze smells really good.  It smells very sweet and fruity, kind of like a Victoria Secret scent.

I smell maybe a little bit of melon, I loved the smell of this product.

I couldn’t smell any DHA at all either!

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

I wish I could still smell this one when I woke up, but I couldn’t.

The smell was pretty much entirely gone when I woke up.

I couldn’t smell any DHA or fruity smell.

Color Produced

I was pretty impressed with the color Cocoa Brown Gentle Bronze produced after a few applications.

After 3 nights of applying this gradual tanner I had a light to medium shade tan.

The color was so smooth and natural looking, I really liked it.

This is one of the best gradual tanners I’ve tried as far as the color produced goes.

This is a good one to use during the Winter months when you aren’t looking to get very dark, but are looking for a little color.

How Long It Lasts

Since this is a gradual tanner, it didn’t last very long.

I’d say after 3 days my tan was almost completely gone.

You’ll have to apply this one every other day to maintain your color, I wish my tan laster longer.

The good news is that it faded very evenly and I didn’t notice any streaks.

OK For Men?

I think men will like the one, except for the guide.

I wish there wasn’t a guide in it, it would make it that much easier to apply because it wouldn’t be as messy.

But I know a lot of you prefer having a guide, so you’d like this one.

Men, if you’re looking for a light to medium tan, you’ll like the color this one produces.

Just be prepared to apply it very often to keep your tan looking good.
