Overall Opinion:
As you can tell by our low rating, we weren’t very impressed by Caribbean Solutions Natural Self Tanner.
First off, it came in a jar, which I don’t find very sanitary (you continuously dip your fingers in the same jar, yuck!).
I also didn’t like the smell of it, it smells a lot like cardboard, I have no better way to describe it.
The color is very light, like almost non existent light. I probably only got 1-2 shades darker after one use.
The plus side is it’s not orange, and it dried pretty quickly.
Also, the price is nice at only $2 an ounce.
But overall, even though it is very inexpensive, I wouldn’t waste my money on this one!
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Caribbean Solutions Natural Self Tanner is a white lotion, that has a very thin/watery texture.
It is pretty lightweight, but I would have preferred it be a little thicker as is was way too watery and made application messy.
There’s no guide in this tanner, it goes on colorless.
Application
This product comes in a jar, and products that come in jars gross me out.
To me they seem less clean, and more likely to be full of bacteria.
You have to continuously dip your hand into the product and there are germs on your hands (but maybe thats just me being a little too OCD!).
Anyways, besides the fact that it comes in a jar, the product itself is very runny.
So when I was scooping it out, it was dripping all over my counter and causing a mess.
You’d think if you are going to put a product in a jar, you’d at least make it thick enough to scoop out.
The good thing, is the product didn’t stain anything it got on because there was no guide.
Caribbean Solutions Natural Self Tanner takes a few minutes to blend into your skin completely.
Drying Time
It took about 15-20 minutes to dry, so it wasn’t too bad.
It didn’t feel too wet or sticky while it dried either, which I liked.
You don’t have to worry too much about it touching your clothes or towels while it’s drying, because it has no guide so it won’t stain anything.
Smell (Before Application)
The smell is gross.
It smells like cardboard mixed with Elmer’s Glue.
It definitely doesn’t smell like something I’d like to slather all over my body.
It’s pretty pungent, I didn’t like it one bit!
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
I could barely smell the product on my skin the next day.
Although, if I focused and tried really hard, the smell was still there, but no one else would notice.
Color Produced
The color produced was very minimal.
And to be honest, I was kind of expecting it to be.
I just had a feeling because all the ingredients are natural, that it wouldn’t be as potent.
Not to say all natural products don’t work as well, I just don’t think the quality of this one is up to par with some others I’ve tried.
So anyways, the color was very light, although it did appear to be natural-looking and not orange at all.
I would’ve liked to see it be at least 3-4 shades darker than it was.
If you’re looking for a tanner than actually gets you tan (what a concept, right?!) than this is not the one for you.
How Long It Lasts
It faded away completely after about 2 days.
Not that there was much color to fade anyways.
It faded pretty naturally, I didn’t notice any uneven or splotchy-looking areas.
OK For Men?
No, I wouldn’t recommend this product to any man, let alone any person.
The application was too messy, it smelled awful, and I didn’t get good color from it.
Price
You can get Caribbean Solutions Natural Self Tanner for $12.00 on their website, or I think you can get it a little cheaper on Amazon.
It comes in a 6 oz jar, which works out to $2.00 an ounce. The price isn’t bad at all, I just wish it was worth spending on this product!
