Overall Opinion:

I really didn’t care for Bondi Sands Summer Bronze Instant Tan, hence the 1.5 star rating.

Let me start off by saying, this isn’t an actual self tanner, it’s a bronzer. I usually don’t review these, but I had many requests for this one. I actually use bronzers quite often to give me some extra color/shimmer for a night out. This is one of the worst ones I’ve tried L

For starters, it stained my entire bathroom and I had to scrub with bleach for over an hour to get it out of my tile and grout. It also stained my sheets, clothing and towels.

I don’t know what they have in there, but man it’s tough to get out!

The color was a nice bronze color, but I looked dirty in some areas because it was so tough to blend in. It’s also hard to wash off in the shower because it really sticks to your skin.

It smells strongly of chemicals, and I just couldn’t get over how messy the application process is.

So overall, I ended up giving it 1.5 stars, mainly because it stained anything and everything it touched.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

This comes out as a light mist, but a lot comes out, so it ends up being more of a heavy mist.

The product is a dark brown, almost black color.

It looks like dark brown spray paint coming out of the bottle.

Application

Application is a disaster, and that’s putting it lightly.

This is the main reason I ranked this product so low, it completely destroyed my shower and bathroom.

When I apply self tanning spray in my shower, I usually have no problems just rinsing away the residue after I’m finished.

But with this one, I turned on my shower and the residue stuck, it didn’t go anywhere. I had to scrub at it with shower cleaner and bleach in order to clean it up. It literally took me over 1 hour to get it all cleaned up, and I was late to where I was going because of it. I thought it was going to be stained forever, based on how long it took me to clean it up.

So beware, this one stains REALLY bad. I’m just lucky I was finally able to scrub it all out of my grout.

Drying Time

Bondi Sands Summer Bronze Instant Tan dried pretty quickly.

Once I applied it my skin was dry in around 10 minutes, which usually is a good thing. But in the case of this spray, it stained everything it touched after it dried. I had to throw my towels away, and the underwear I had on were stained for good.

Smell (Before Application)

This one doesn’t have DHA in it, so you don’t need to worry about that.

But it still had an odd smell. It smelled very chemically to me.

They obviously tried to cover it up with a scent (it smells a bit like cinnamon or nuts), but I could definitely still smell chemicals.

The smell actually resembles spray paint a little.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

I could still smell chemicals on my body for the next few hours, but thankfully by the next morning the smell had faded away.

Color Produced

This product gives you an immediate dark color.

The color was a dark bronze color, and it looked nice after thoroughly blending it in, but the color just isn’t worth the hassle in my opinion.

I thought this would be an easy way to achieve a dark tan before a night out, and I did get my dark tan, but it definitely was NOT easy.

The color is really splotchy until you blend it in. You absolutely have to use a glove or mitt while blending this one in, because it stains!

I had some areas around my ankles that looked really dirty because it was dry before I could blend it in.

How Long It Lasts

Since this is a bronzer and not an actual self tanner, this only lasts until you shower it off….or so the bottle says.

This one literally stains your skin, so it took me 2 showers to really get it all off.

OK For Men?

NO!

This is way too messy and it stains your bathroom :(

Price

This bronzer comes out to $6.76 per ounce which is pretty average, maybe only slightly higher.
